Hello everyone. So I bought a 23 2500hd and traded in my 20 trailboss. I had lots of nice features on that truck and accessories. I don’t plan on going all out on this one but minor issues I’d like to upgrade. I would like to add the z71 skid plate as I’m on a farm and corn stalks are no joke. It helped alot on mt last trucks and not sure if I can add that?

I also noticed the headlights on my truck now are very yellow compared to my trailboss. I have the custom trim now and looking if there is an easy, reliable led bulb that is ok for daytime running also? I can’t afford a whole new light housing….also, I couldn’t find one with fog lights so I see the area they should be…can the stock one be added? Or anyone do differently? Pictures, links or ideas would be much appreciated! Thank you

The Z-71 skid plate is flimsy. I would look for something aftermarket. That corrugated plastic section in front that bolts to the skid plate is trash.

Look for a post by Jettech1 about Lasfit Pro LED headlights. Mine have had zero problems and are super bright. Fog lights..IDK if they can be simply added. There may be wiring provision and certainly would need a new switch, but I think that's al running through the BCM and would need programming. Probably better to add aftermarket ones. A GM auxiliary switch kit is ~$175, relatively easy to install (particularly if you have jump seat instead of full console). That way, it's stock-appearance, no butchered wiring, and will never hurt resale drilling through a panel.

Best to just browse this subforum and click whatever is relevant to your interests bc there's a lot of ideas here.

I was looking at the Lasfit pros actually, the H11 for the regular beams. The customer service there said plugging them in will disable the DRLs? I hate day time runnings  anyway but I don’t think that’s accurate unless you can shed some insight?

I never noticed, so I just went outside. Remote start turns on clearance lights and running lights. Press brake and those lights go out. It's ~6:00 PM CDT right now, so there's a lot of light. But no DRL. Then I thought maybe it needs to be in Drive, so I put in in D and engaged emergency brake; DRL illuminated.

So yeah the Lasfit Pro H11 function in my truck ('23 LT) just fine. And now I know it has to be in Drive before they turn on. I leave for work ~5:00 AM and since headlamps are on Auto, they of course illuminate when remotely started.

Be forewarned some of those caps are an SOB to get on, but like mentioned in Over The Hill Adventures YT video on Lasfit Pros, they will fit

Ok well thanks for checking! Kind of a bummer because I was hopeful those day time runners would turn off. I know I can turn the knob and turn them off manually, but I’ll forget a lot and I rather not shave life off them with that crap. I’ll probably order them, they look good. Maybe there’s a way to permanently disengage the drls

Yeah I don't care for DRLs; makes me think I'm in a funeral procession 😁 They look damn good. And seriously, consider the upfitter kit. Looks like they've gone up, but you might find one less-costly. UPFITTER KIT And if you do go that way, be sure you double-check content. If it's selling appreciably less than that, it might not have everything.

So my truck came with those auxiliary switches already, what exactly is all this?

Somewhere in your truck will be the wiring harness that runs from the back of the switches to the battery, a bag of bus bars/nuts, and a plug end. Unfortunately, you'll have to install all this-but it's easy and there's a write up and several YT tutorials about it.

One the harness is run and plugged in behind the switches, there's a pigtail with five leads for accessories. All you have to do is just splice onto the pigtail and run the wire to power whatever accessory. Really, you could get the factory fog lights, cut the terminal off, and splice to the lead going to the upfitter switch pigtail. It's not as slick as the fog light switch built into some trucks, but it'll give you the OEM look. Or just get a $30.00 amazon light bar. Or whatever. That's cool you already have the basic setup; now you can run whatever your imagination or circuit fuse protection can handle.

Good to know, thank you very much! I do like the factory fog light look, nice and clean. I’ll definitely have to wire it all up, and I know now what that bag of wire harnesses is under the back seat lol

My truck also has those upfitter buttons already in the dash and also those pigtails pictured. Those just came laying in the back seat though so I would have to install

Regarding fog lights... I have a '22 Custom and bought the Baja Designs fog pocket light kit. I haven't installed it yet. I'm assuming these will be brighter and better than the factory fogs. I'll post up a review when I get them installed.

dont forget a really good set of seat covers, one of the best things you can put on a new truck i went with the vertex x-factor synthetic and love em, but they are not cheap. and regarding the fog lights, you can always get all the oem lights/ panels from the dealer and put them in then just wire it up your self to a simple switch/fuse set up right from battery. thats how i did mine and love it cause theyll stay on with or with out the brights on.

I've been running lasfits for almost a year with no issues. The SRLs come on when put in gear. If you don't want them on, turn the headlight switch all the way left. It will return to center, but that deactivates them.

I never even realized I had drl ha but good to know a quick turn to the left turns them off. I do that when I pull in the garage and get out of the truck because I don’t need them staying on for any amount of time.

Can't help on the skid plate, but i've purchased several sets of bulbs from Auxito over the years, & every set has been amazing.
I just put these in my 2023:

Left side are the LED's, passenger side still had the stock halogens when i took the picture.

    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.

    • The average lifespan of automobiles on the road is increasing - here's why
    • Typically it is the Torque Converter, I have a 2.7L Trail Boss and between 25-65 MPH at 1300-1500 rpms under light throttle it has a shudder which I almost consider and bobble or a gargle sound. They replaced my TC but it did not help any, others say it has fixed their issues. It has been back twice now with no fix after.
