Hello all, I’m new to this forum. I’ve posted a couple comments and replied to a couple threads, but I want to start a new one. I’m going to post my 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. It’s a Double cab, 4.3L with the 6L80 transmission.

here’s a couple things about the axles I’ve discovered while modifying it.

8.6 AAM rear differential. G80.

8.25 AAM front differential. G80. SU5.

I’ll post photos, and write a list of mods.

let’s start with a list. Some are cosmetic, some are performance, and some are just modifications I did because it’s what I like.

• rear block removal (including bump stop extension blocks)

• brake caliper paint (red)

• High country instrument cluster and steering wheel audio control upgrade

• ADDW1 v3.3 catch can

• K&N cold air intake kit (for v8) modified with a reducer silicone coupling to throttle body

• Flowmaster FlowFX muffler (soon to be super 44 and dual pipes)

• Rough Country SF-1 smooth style fender flares

• The Western Edge 20” x 12” wheels, -44mm offset, 110mm hub bore

• Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/T 305/55R20 tires (12 ply, load range F)

• Aierxuan faux leather, waterproof seat covers for front and rear

• GM Z71 floor liners

• Line-X spray in bedliner

• X Cover hard tri-fold bed cover (Amazon, $680, was a good deal)

• DNA Motoring Black housing, clear reflector lens headlights for 2019-2023 custom/wt

• Sealight LED headlight bulbs

• Lasfit turn signal, license plate, running light, and reverse bulbs

• Proform Bow tie rear differential cover with matte, crinkle black finish and stainless steel hardware

• Bilstein B8 5100 series shocks and struts (front trail boss, rear custom/wt/LT/High Country)

• front differential drain plug mod with weld-in bung and magnet affixed to drain plug

• Redline badges, and Trail Boss hood spear decals (modified for door application)

• pedal covers with rubber grips

• Goodyear shatterproof in-channel window vent visors

• Lund/AVS High profile hood deflector

• Stillen Air intake scoop

• Windshield visor tint (5%)

• LED bowtie hitch cover

Looks great, a lot of mods as well!

thank you! I’m contemplating a few more, I’m still deciding on some components.

I wish there was more support for the 4.3 as far as performance…but the LV3 DOES have support before 2019 (k2xx). The ‘19-‘20 lv3 doesn’t have the capability to be tuned because the programs are still locked (HPTuners). Hopefully, I can find a decent cam kit with non-AFM lifters in the future, and by then, there will be more tuning support for the v6, like the v8.

Wow, you've done so many mods already – that's awesome! I'm looking for cargo bed storage solutions. Got any good recommendations?

What are you looking for?  I have an interesting setup with a Retrax tonneau, Valhalla Offroad MOLLE panels, Tmat for sectioning of the floor, and a Pelican case that fits perfectly under the tonneau cover canister.

I have the Retrax XR version and has been a great choice.  Which Pelican case did you use?

Pelican Storm iM3220.  I have it sitting on top of a section of Tmat panels and secured with 2 Tmat T-shaped blocks on the sides (1 on each side) and 3 of the Tmat adjustable blocks in front of the case.  I originally had 2 in front of the case, but my case is so heavy that on a sudden acceleration it broke one of the adjustable blocks and sent the case crashing into my tailgate.  So, I had to buy 2 more to make it 3.  On that case I have tow hitches, tow ropes, soft shackles, hard shackles, a shovel, etc.  It's a heavy case loaded.  The Tmat is holding it in place and I've had no issues with the current setup.  I only have the Tmat under the tonneau canister.  I don't need it anywhere else in my bed, but it can be used to cover the entire truck bed.  It can be booked down through the truck bed, but i haven't needed to do this.  The Tmat system not only prevents the car from sliding back and forth, it also stops it from shifting side to side and damaging the drain hoses on the tonneau canister.

My only gripe is everything I own from Tmat is hard plastic and hollow.  I was it filled in and a little softer material, like interior trim tools are.

Hey guys. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I sold the truck, I just couldn’t stand the truck constantly being in the shop for torque converter and transmission issues. Chewed through 4 converters in 60,000 miles…and GM wasn’t going to properly fix it until warranty ran out and I had to foot the bill. I went with a new truck (2024 5.3 WT, CCSB), and I’m happy I made the leap. I had an X-Cover on mine. Hard, tri-fold from Amazon. The first one leaked; however the new one on my current truck has a couple design tweaks compared to the old one and this cover does not leak. It’s got a latch for the middle section, to prevent theft. It’s also compatible with some under-cover storage boxes. I just have a Taco Net in mine holding my tools to the rear for ease of access, and it’s quick to remove and reinstall.
