Anyone Know How to Black Out the Powered Running Boards?

Have seen trucks like this for sale and want to do it on my own, but haven't found anywhere to buy. Any ideas?

Are you talking the chrome articulating power boards?  

 

I'd imagine a vinyl wrap shop could solve that for you, or you could get some gloss Plasti-Dip but that might not look as good as vinyl wrap.

I'd bet that's a vinyl wrap. The whole truck appears to have been wrapped.

 

If you search on youtube you can prob find a video showing how to do it.  I just bought some black hyper dip and I'm gonna black out a bit of my grill and probably my chrome mirror caps.  If I screw it up I'm out $30 and it and peels right off

Let me know what you think about the hyper dip! I was thinking about getting some myself, but I run through an automatic car wash, and I saw one horror video, and it scared me off. Would love to see the results!

Yes, will do.  I have 2 cans of piano black hyperdip to do the top of the grille.  If it goes well I will probably do the GMC logos also.  I have vinyl to do them as well but I think the hyperdip is easier and will last just as long as the vinyl.

I need to wait a bit.  it's bitter cold here.  My garage is barely 50*.  Want to get it inside, warm and make sure everything is very clean and temps are more like 60+.  I've watched a ton of videos, I'm pretty confident I can get it to turn out.

The chrome piece is held on by double stick tape. I took the end caps off and used a heat gun and warmed a short section of the chrome strip and gradually pulled it off, working my way up the length of the strip.

I vinyl wrapped mine, got ripped by boots and branches eventually. I then just took off the chrome piece. Looks much better, was easy, and holds up really well. 

 

The vinyl didn't react well with ice and slush after a year or so either.
