My 2024 Silverado RST is in the shop now with a laundry list of things that need to be addressed. One of my complaints to them is that the passenger side detection is "meh" at best. It misses pretty obvious things like semi trucks, and it doesn't matter if I'm approaching / passing them or the other way around. Won't know for at least another day whether or not they attempt to do anything about it and whether it makes any difference...

most electric issues can be fixed with out taking are truck to the dealer. You just need to pull off the negative terminal at the battery and press the start button to make sure all the juice is drained in the system. IT basically performs a reboot to the system. The same as you would get from burning 4 hours of time at the dealer ship for a software flash.

ive had to do this twice on my 22 refresh. First time my cluster when haywire turning off all safety features including BS monitoring. Second time was when my front right blinker stopped. (looked like a flicker from outside) No problems since. You may just need to double check your convivence settings after. Not a big deal. Its also a good idea to head down to the UPDATE option as well to make sure everything up to date.

These cars and trucks are turning into computers. Sometimes they just need to be unplugged and started back up to fix minor issues.

Sort of...

This isn't really fixing the issue as much as it is "resetting" the issue and is typically a temporary thing.

GM has some of the absolute worst-programmed software I have come across in their vehicles. From just bad design, to poor navigation, to modules simply not being correctly configured to communicate with each other, their software is garbage (which makes laugh that much harder at their intent to replace Android Auto and CarPlay completely). And when you're dealing with bad software, it's really hard to do ANYTHING to truly correct it.

For true electrical issues, you have to either correct issues with the battery, charging system, or ground. Pulling the negative cable just forces everything into a reset so that all pieces are starting from square 1 at the same time. It's the terrible programming that necessitates this due to inability to have various modules and components correctly power down and back up with each other over time.

I, with the help of a dealership, chased issues in my Camaro for the first year I had it before it was finally figured out to all being caused by a marginal battery. Since replacing that battery, the electrical issues are gone. Any time a vehicle with an AGM battery sits for more than a day or two (including in transit time and sitting on dealer lots), those batteries degrade quickly. They need to be kept at full charge pretty much all of the time to prevent deterioration.

what is AGM BATTERY ?

It stands for Absorbed Glass Mat. In a nutshell, you take a FLA (Flooded Lead Acid) battery and slip a fiberglass mesh in between the plates. The end result is a battery with more CCA for its size compared to a FLA battery.

They are used in vehicles that have Stop/Start due to all of the cranking of the engine being done and are also used where there is a LOT of electrical draw for components or similar. They are more expensive, but generally more "particular" to properly maintain via charging. If your vehicle didn't originally COME with an AGM battery, you should be wary about swapping one in when it's time for a replacement - your vehicle may not have a charging system that's properly designed for it.

Your truck will have the AGM battery as it's warranted for the electrical needs.

My wife's car comes with the standard FLA and I had a hell of a time trying to find a non-AGM battery to put into it recently.

its strange because if I disconnect the battery everything work good until I let the truck sit for some time than looses connection

omg I cant believe this is happening with a brand new truck , what a shame for GM !!

Go look at the manufacture date on the battery, the build date on the truck, and the date that the truck was delivered to the dealer. You need to create some estimates on how long the battery may have been "sitting" without being charged, especially after having been delivered to the dealership. The AGM battery in my Camaro was bad from the day I drove it off the lot - that car had sat through a New England winter without being driven, started, etc. and the battery was damaged as a result (it will go completely dead in that car in about six weeks in cold weather if you don't actively charge it). It took almost a year before the dealership finally found the issue and replaced the battery.
