Just curious your thoughts before I take it in my first service..2024 6.6 gasser

intermittent issues

1.  On some startups - brake pedal kicks back hard once motor turns over

2.  Belt squeal

3.  Intermittent hard downshifts, especially at low speeds in traffic

4.  Wireless CarPlay works fine most startups, then just won’t on others

5.  Lastly, no an intermittent issue, but a one time issue.  Truck stopped in reverse, bumped 4lo button, message in dash to shift to

neutral, pushed 2hi and message went away, drove off but during a short couple mile trip, heard grinding on slow turns, sounds like from the area of front diff

Any constructive feedback before I take it in and get a bunch of “could not replicate” at the dealer?

How many miles?  My 24 had some quirks when it was brand new, and have seemed to work themselves out.  Everything on new trucks is monitored and controlled electronically.  Sometimes, they need datapoints to function optimally.  Regarding your list:

1. Mine does that too, likely something normal with an ABS self check at startup.

2. That should be an easy dealer fix.  Non issue on my 24

3. I get that rarely on a 2 to 1 downshift, typically at stop signs or quick stop/starts.  I think the truck is anticipating your next move incorrectly.

4. No valuable input on this one

5. I think this was a one-off occurrence where you confused the transfer case mid-shift.  If the problem resolved itself, I wouldnt worry about it.

I too have the belt squeal -- on cold start up before and after work.  Dealer replaced the belt and idler pulley but it is still squealing.  I'm trying to figure out what is causing this.

“Wireless CarPlay works fine most startups, then just won’t on others”

I have this happen occasionally on my 2022. I haven’t kept track but maybe once every 100 startups so I haven’t considered it a terrible nuisance although it can be irritating.

2022 Didn't have wireless CarPlay.

Y'all might not have ever noticed this is hydroboost setups, but if you hold the break pedal when the engine starts, it always "kicks" like that because the power steering system is boosting the pressure suddenly for the braking assist. This is normal, while some vehicles its more apparent than others. You don't notice it with the key start, because well you don't need to hold the pedal to start. If you hold the brake pedal only long enough for the start sequence to begin (basically push the button and let go) you'll never notice the pedal kick back.

Makes sense…but wouldn’t that occur everytime it starts?

It would depend on how much pressure was remaining in the accumulator. Mine does it nearly every time, though some times its less apparent. No braking issues in my currrent truck or any other I've had. That said, if its violent, then something may be wrong, but a little bump is normal.

You must have added it.  The wireless option was new to the 2024 model.

Did you buy used?  If so, someone added an aftermarket wireless Carplay interface.  As CRApex mentioned, factory wirless didn't get into the HDs until the 2024 refresh.
