Just picked up a 24 Silverado WT with the offroad package and of course it came with standard halogen bulbs.  Previously had a 21 that I upgraded to LED without issue.  Strangely enough, when I looked in the owners manual on the app, it has a disclaimer that Halogen bulbs should not be replaced with LED bulbs as serious electrical issues may result.  I never had any kind of issue on my previous truck.  Is anyone aware of any issues that have been brought forward by doing the seemingly simple upgrade?

The LT models in the HD trucks still have halogens. I replaced mine with H11 LED's (high and low were the same) from Lasfit. Huge difference and no issues. They were about $50 pr after using an online coupon. As long as you stay with the reasonable power units you should be fine. Mine were the best $100 mod in a long time.

Their online guide doesnt always show what will fit your model. I believe my truck had H9 and H11 originally.

X2 on the Lasfit upgrade on my 22' Custom. I got high's and lows, still have not installed the highs cause the lows are so good. And they are kind of a PITA to install. But they work great.

They sent me the same bulbs for high/lows, which stock they are H9 and H11, they do interchange, but was kinda odd

0 issues and im about 7000 miles in

This is what the online owners manual shows.   I know I didn't have any issues at all in my last truck and the light output was amazing.   I had gone with the sealight off of Amazon and actually removed them before trading the truck in.   Screenshot_20240405_193330.thumb.jpg.6092d36f67a69b5b1492e274520ee507.jpg

the only electrical problems I can see would be the bulb out system that tells you if you burned a light without you noticing it and the pulse width modulated daytime running lights. In daytime running mode the lights are actually a modified sine-wave and on normal power they run at the full 12v power.

On my old 2014 silverado and my 2004 envoy I bypassed the stupid pulse width modulation problem by tapping into the running light circuit that controls the corner bulbs and used it to trigger external 12v relays that turned on the power to my HID ballasts as I ran bi-xenon projectors that I modded into the headlight.

You can get kits that will be plug and play with the factory headlight wires but I wanted to extend my bulb life and not run the daytime running lights and only have headlights when the parking lights turned on. This made it so I had no DRL's and the bi-xenons ran when it was dark outside or I flipped the light knob to parking lights or normal mode.

BigGuy I replaced my high and low beam lights on a 2021 Trail Boss Custom and replaced all 4 lights on my 2023 T.B. Custom last August when I purchased it new. I read somewhere not to do it but ignored it and replaced all of my headlights with LEDs. I am not telling you its OK to install the LEDs but I did and have had no problems.

Hope this helps you.

I replaced my halogen with the brighter leds by lasfit, and now I have a fault code for body control module and front turn signals, no check engine or any other noticable issues, but that can bus is thinking I got some problems.

I put LED bulbs in my 24 WT, they only lasted 3 months and started flickering and randomly turning on and off.   No fault codes at all.   I put my factory halogens back in.  I hate the light output with the halogens but don't want to waste money on more bulbs right now.

Did you use Lasfit bulbs or "other"?

No,  I went with Sealight.  I had used them on my 2021 with fantastic results.   Not the most expensive by any means but I was able to get 3 trouble free years out of them on my old truck.

    • Hey thanks yall for the info. It apparently was the key fob - the "reserve" key fob works just fine. Yall were all over it. Great input! JRD
    • I just bought one of these.   https://www.topdon.us/collections/diagnostic-tools/products/artidiag-pro   Yeah, it`s got a cable. $250/year after 2 years. Do I want more? Yep. But, I`m not working any more and can`t afford a whirlpool in my tool box.
    • Why don't I have a good scanner? I've always wanted one when I've needed one.   My latest reading says I don't need to do a relearn on the ckp sensor on a 1995 with OBD 1.5. The relearn is prescribed for the later-model 1995's which shipped with actual OBD II when GM completed the transition in prep for the 1996 MY. I need to confirm that. Did you know forums are disappearing? Knuckleheads on Facebook... it's not the same. It's just not.   So, scanners. Again, shooting myself in the foot for having eBayed my Snap On MT2500 "brick" with all the adapters. Not that I couldn't buy another but those are getting quite old, and mine wasn't new enough to work on 2000's vehicles.   Damn it (as I'm scanning my email between paragraphs here). Did you know there's a 2000 Jimmy 2-door on BaT that's ending this morning? It's local. I want it. 14k miles. Absolutely beautiful.   Back to scanners. MT2500's are old. Solus, now that could be a contender. There's a ~2008 Verus with a system error that's basically new in box for cheap. Hmm...I'm not sure about a scanner that runs an archaic version of windows (95 or CE, I can't tell).   I want the ability to reset and rotate TPMS, test individual modules, bleed ABS, electronic parking brake controls for servicing brakes, relearn procedures and other bidirectional controls.   Snap On does an MT2600. It's a new model as of last year, marketed as their "entry" scanner. Entry? Only where $1900 gets you through the doorway plus, I'm guessing, $1000/year if you wish to keep it current. So goes scan tools actually designed for production environments. Want decent products with excellent support, you pay for it.   Everyone is raving about Autels and TopDons and Foxconns and all these newer brands that are selling the $500 "prosumer" scanners for backyard hacks like me. They're tempting...honestly. Updates are cheaper, base prices are remarkably cheaper... And you get to deal with bugs and translation whoopsies and, well, just don't use it on anything expensive, OK? Having a dealer replace an ECU because it needs to be re-imaged after an adventure in scanning is no joke. But I think most people are getting by OK with these units.   eBay on a scratch-and-sniff pro-model oldie, a shiny new TopDon, or???   God dang it, I can't stop looking at this Jimmy. I'm ready! I'll Bring The TRailer! It's beautiful.
    • I removed the OE running boards.  It looked so much better.  I wish I took them off a long time ago.     I had to put something back on for my wife.  I wanted Westin Sure Grip Running Boards but they are very pricey, like $600 plus.  I was going to go with the Ionic 41's like I had on the 2019 Silverado but went with Westin Outlaw Drop Steps instead, about $200 cheaper.  They are sturdy and functional but not super crazy about the look, but it works.
