We do very little, a wreath on the door, a lighted garland on the window seal.

Went to surgery pre-op yesterday. 3 incisions, one on my side, this is to remove bad discs, 2 on my back for cage install.

My dilemma is I've been feeling great, very little pain.

Your house may not look like the Griswold's but still a tasteful salute to the season!  How are your shoulder and  hands?

Thanks for asking Don. Left hand has limited dexterity, shoulder surgery this side, still some pain in my shoulder. September 6th 2024 surgery date for shoulder.

Right hand after carpal tunnel surgery, thumb, index finger and middle finger numb, hard to use.

Wife has to help me sometimes, hands just don't cooperate.

We note that Texans who leave lights on AFTER THEY LEAVE FOR WINTER tend to get their ridiculous gay lights “ removed “ up here that don’t meet DARK SKIES  STANDARDS.

Could be high velocity snow or ice that “removes” them. 🥴

Disclaimer : gay Texans are welcome. Just leave your ficking lights off for 8 months while you are back in Houston.

What? I don’t see that! My lights go up the weekend after thanksgiving and down after new year. Most subdivisions have rules about Christmas lights. Now some people have lights for their outdoor festivities like barbecue. We can do that year round. If anything people come to Texas for the winter, they’re called snow birds. As far as visiting the ski country. We take it as we find it and leave it as we found it. If we own a house for vacation purposes we tend to hire out services to be performed by the locals. At least I did. If a person can’t afford that they probably don’t have a vacation in ski resorts. If they have a timeshare that is provided. So nice try.👏👏👏

There are also projectors you can put on your lawn that will brighten up the exterior of your house with colorful patterns or images.  Over the years, we've tried many options but I always return to the traditional multi-cored lights attached to the eves of our house.  On Monday, I did manage to get a string of lights along the front of the house without a problem.  Our house is a single story so no major heights.  The many trips up and down the ladder were not appreciated by the knees that are past their best before date!  A few years ago I upgraded my outdoor lights to LED which almost eliminates any need to go back up on a ladder until its time to take the lights down.

I mentioned that to the wife. She looked at me as a traitor. So I went to my fall back when I get in trouble. Just kidding, I wanted to see your reaction.😬

Don’t remind me. It took me ten years to lose the attitude. I now wave with all my fingers up.

I don't get why people have lights on at night, yea they say safer. I live rural like custom and the lights I see looking out my windows spoils the life style. Go back to the city.

Low humidity makes a big difference, used to live in Michigan.

I’ve seen neighbors with very nice lightning on their houses. It doesn’t hamper the night sky and the houses are a work of art with the lighting. I have low dust to dawn lighting on my  detached garage it doesn’t hamper my ability to see absolutely nothing in the dark. Unless I look at the night sky. People who are worried about safety lights. Motion lights take care of that.
