KARNUT Posted October 5, 2025 Posted October 5, 2025 Besides my 2 brother in law’s. Sometimes my kids. Maybe my brothers. Definitely my mother. The top of the list is the wife. I’m not really a people person. My wife on the other hand is outgoing. I’ll exchange pleasantries even have conversations especially at church. If they could read my mind. I would love to tell people the secret to success and happiness. It starts with a life partner. But even some of my Kids struggle with it some. Maybe there’s some luck. Maybe I’ve had it too easy. So I generally keep it to myself. Stay in my bubble. I venture out sometimes on here. Then the crazy gets triggered. So I’ll just go on in my utopia.
Donstar Posted October 6, 2025 Author Posted October 6, 2025 I occasionally enjoy watching flash mob type wedding proposals on YouTube. The recipients of the proposal typically are very, very surprised. I often think the pressure of the event itself generates a "yes" response. If someone is gobsmacked by a request to be married, they may not be ready yet! 50 years ago, I did the down on one knee thing after getting approval from her parents. It was a memorable event full of happiness but not unexpected. We are proud of our efforts to fulfil our promise to each other and we will continue until the death 'till we part thing! 1

I really enjoy reading the stories of enduring long term commitments. My and I wife are as much the same as opposite. I’m an early bird she’s not. We have some TV shows we can’t watch together. If I had to watch 90 day what ever or sister wife’s it’s over. There’s plenty of shows we can watch together. She runs her errands I watch my stuff. She goes back down stairs out night she gets the TV. Compromise nothing wrong with it. 1
customboss Posted October 7, 2025 Posted October 7, 2025 (edited) Six hours since hip surgery and I’m feeling great with meds. I’m hoping to do a flying dropkick. Update did it moments ago. Edited October 7, 2025 by customboss 6
Donstar Posted October 8, 2025 Author Posted October 8, 2025 I guess by now the initial post-surgery high has disappeared. Sorry about that! Of course you knew it would. In a few days you'll start feeling an improvement everyday! My wife has unfortunately experienced a few surgeries and she always waits for day 3 to be done! Speedy recovery, Customboss! 1 1
customboss Posted October 8, 2025 Posted October 8, 2025 Thanks Donstar. I highly recommend hip replacement surgery! I walked yesterday with walker and today I’ll navigate stairs. Will get right side done ASAP 2
Donstar Posted October 12, 2025 Author Posted October 12, 2025 The other night our 80 yr old neighbour phoned to ask if she could borrow a cane for a couple of weeks. She is having trouble with her knee and her doctor recommended she uses one for awhile. She knows I use a cane on occasion. I politely suggested that she should have one of her own as it may prove handy in the future. She scoffed and said she won't be needing one once her leg gets better. Her issue with owning a cane is part of her resistance to the aging process. (I gave her a cane as I had a few.) Yesterday, I spoke to her daughter who was out walking with her mom to help her get comfortable using a cane. Mom was apparently embarrassed to use her new cane outside of the house so daughter was forcing the public appearance! I was in my early 60's when I purchased a cane and a walker to use as needed. I thought at the time that I was too young to use such tools but I certainly wasn't worried about how I look to others. The truth is people feel much more comfortable around you when you don't look like you're going to fall over!

customboss Posted October 18, 2025 Posted October 18, 2025 Wow thanks! fellas I’m fine! I love you guys and that includes Grumpy. Maybe more! This new Depuy titanium and ceramic coating hip joint, with polyethylene lining is tribilogically fantastic. I had to go back on OxyContin last night to sleep because all my movement wore me out over 2 weeks but I can’t sleep that great. I’ve lost somewhere around 15-20 lbs and wish I’d done this 20 years ago. Thanks VA for torturing me. More good news sold my 1978 Jeep 4x4 J20 1.4 ton truck( I couldn’t finish ) for 3X the purchase price about a year ago. @Atlas are you attending NO KINGS today? I would if I could. Not quite up to a mile + walk.
customboss Posted October 18, 2025 Posted October 18, 2025 @KARNUT I appreciate your posts. We disagree but you are still my big brother.
