Surgery check in was 5:30 am, got up at 3 am. Surgery at 7:15 am. 4 hours on the table, 8 screws the doc said.

Surgery went fine, just the pain now and the neck brace to deal with for 6 weeks. Had a room to myself to spend the night, very nice.

They gave me an itemized bill, $243.000.00 total.

Hospital fee/usage was $45k.

Amazing!  I hope your recovery goes well and your itemized bill was just fyi!  My knee replacement was 3 weeks ago today.  Recovery is slow, frustrating and painful but I appreciate my good fortune.

Thank you!  I am gaining more independence following my knee replacement surgery.  I have watched many You/tubes by individuals having experienced total knee replacement surgery and there is a huge range of post surgery stories.  My story is of highly unexpected pain levels and  discomfort!   Yesterday, I was able to get into the drivers' seat of my truck with minimal discomfort.  Perhaps today I'll try driving!  Soon this experience will be forgotten and I'll be better prepared next time!

The recovery sucks. I'm real prone to constipation from pain meds. So it's a big problem for me. I've tried it all to help.

Have you tried Magnesium Glycinate and Metamucil psyllium powder?

I've always taken stool softener pills. Always worked for me. Equate label. Supposed to take 3 per day. I started on them as soon as I knew I'd be on pain meds more than a day or two. I ended taking more than 3, never was packed up. Works by drawing moisture back into the colon, that's my understanding.

Fiber stuff is good too,  but I've been doing ok with the pills

Keep with drinking water

It's been a week since surgery today. I have one spot that's hurt the worst since waking up from surgery. It's improved a little.

Stopped taking oxycodone, taking Tylenol now. It helps.

Senokot and Metamucil dailey has worked.

Life is throwing curve balls.

Someone we know passed away yesterday from prostate cancer, 9 year fight. My brother in law has been fighting it for 2 years, he's having rough go right now. My brother is in the hospital due to his MDS. Our cat was diagnosed with asthma last week.

My recovery is slow, the wife's eyes are not improving. My granddaughter totaled her car, she's OK.

As the saying goes, when it rains it pours. I’ve noticed as aging progresses feel good days are a little less. You can’t indulge like you used to. Bad days makes us really appreciate the good ones. It’s been said that how we handle the downers directly affects the quality of life. I try to follow the wisdom of those advices. When all else fails distraction works wonders. I turn to YouTube and watch package pirates get their due. Or talking birds and animals being adventurous. If I’m being especially evil. Police chases never disappoints.
