I noticed a small leak around the sensor next to the cam phaser magnet. Can anyone explain of the timing cover has to come out to replace this? If facing the engine its left of the cam phaser magnet. No oil pressure issues or check engine light. I just noticed it because I recently changed the O ring in the phaser and wanted to keep an eye on it.

That's for the variable oil pump control valve There is an o-ring on it. I believe the hold down is inside the cover, so it would have to come off to replace the o-ring.

Smh, to get to it I would have to remove the upper pan, differential, water pump and some other stuff. Wouldn’t even make sense to do unless I’m a do a DOD/ AFM delete. GM engineers are from another planet lol.

Here's another possible option if you think it's worth a try. I recommend AT-205 leak fix. It swells the seal material to reduce leaks. I've used it in the past with good results. Just a cheap option. Several good videos on YouTube.

Good luck
