Quadrasteer Noise

I am experiencing a noise from my Quadrasteer steering rack and haven’t been able to figure out exactly where it’s coming from or what is causing it. I’ve ruled out tie rods, and it does not use power steering fluid and there are no grease fittings. My best guess is that the motor could be bad but I’m not sure.

What type of noise?  Clunk?  Whine?

See if you can duplicate the conditions for the noise to occur.  Is it at high speeds or low speeds?  Going straight or when turning?  If it's low speed and when turning, go to an empty parking lot.  Have someone else drive the truck while you stand outside.  Have them drive the truck around you.  See if you can identify if the noise is front or rear.  

 

Did this noise appear suddenly or was some work/maintenance performed on the truck?  The reason I ask is because the rear ends on the quadrasteers needed extra posi lube in the gear fluid than what comes normally.  

 

I miss my quadrasteer.

It is a squeak, almost like plastic rubbing together. It happens when I’m steering whether I’m stopped or driving, only with 4ws on.

I'd grab a mechanic's stethoscope and start listening to it.  Mechanics Stethoscope

 

Have someone steer the truck in 4WS and check the actuator (motor), the rack, etc. and try to pinpoint the noise.
