it allows you to connect your phone "wirelessly" to apple car play or android auto. 

The box itself plugs into the usb port and then you phone will connect to it wirelessly. I have one, it works ok but sometimes has its quirks.

If you have a 2019-2020 and want to go the factory route (and add navigation) this is another alternative and with the age of these trucks and the radio failure rate increasing its only about $100 more than a replacement radio (CSM) module.

I'm looking forward to getting a nav upgrade from you once I finish the back end of my install! That plus PAC AP4 and an amp is the same as the Kenwood+RR+Install kit and actually adds a functionality that I'd like to have.
