Stock tires

Does anyone  know why some of the 4x4 silverado LT 1500's came with the Bridgestone alenza tires? And some came with the Goodyear Wrangler trail runner A/T tires. I understand the Z71 coming with AT tires. Mine came with more high way Bridgestone's. Much rather got the Trail runners on it .

Wheel size, trim package, tire size and probably supplier changes during assembly (what's available) dictate what OE tire they use.

 

What size wheel/tire combo do you have?

They are the 20 inch wheels.  I believe they are what they call the waffle style wheels.  It's a 2024 silverado LT 1500 4x4. I believe it's a 2FL trim. I see alot of other exact trucks with the A/T wrangler on them.

Its all how its ordered buy the dealer for tire choice.  

 

On 2FL there is two wheel options and each of those has two tire options.  

 

18" aluminum is the standard wheel.  Standard tire is RPO code QDF all season P265/65R18, typically the Michelin Primacy LTX.  Optional tire is the all terrain RPO code XCK and that is P265/65R18 Goodyear Wrangler Territory AT.  No white letter option for the AT tire on 2FL, regular LT and RST only.  

 

Optional is the 20" aluminum wheel.  Standard tire is an all season RPO code QAB, P275/60R20, and is either the General Grabber HTS 60 or Bridgestone Dueler Alenza A/S 02.  The optional tire is the all terrain, RPO code QAE and that is going to be either the Goodyear Trailrunner AT or the Bridgestone Dueler AT RHS both P275/60R20.  Most 2FL seem to have the Goodyear.  

 

TLDR;  Whoever at ordered the truck you bought (and probably others they ordered) checked the box on the 20" wheel but never bothered to add the AT tire option to it.  If you aren't a fan, stop at your favorite tire shop and have them replaced with something else you prefer.  

 

Most of the 2FL we have on the lot (Western NY) have the AT tire option except for a couple with 18" and all season.

The Discount Tire shop near me is pretty good about buying back older tires kind of like a trade in.  So you could go to them and see what a new set of tires would cost you with a trade in of your old tires if you're that interested.

Business associate locally will not take in used tires for resale. He destroys them if they can possibly be reused.  Liability concerns with used tires.   He mentioned a big loss when he sold some used tires to a lady with a older Camaro and one of the tires failed within 50 miles and he spent a lot of money defending the shop but lost and had to pay for vehicle damage, towing and 4 new tires.  New tires carry oem warranty, used tires the seller accepts liability.

Good info to know...what area of Texas are you located and/or where was the Discount Tire shop located?
