Trailer Camera Issues

Rear trailer camera has been working great for 1 1/2 years. on last two trips, started acting flakey. It will go on and off constantly almost looking like it was a bad connection that was happening when I would go over bumps. Now it doesn't work at all

 

Did some tests with my wife in the truck and me wiggling the connection on the bumper as well as the wire going into the camera but could not get the camera to turn back on.

 

I have also cleaned the connectors with contact cleaner with no success.

 

Anybody else have issues with their rear trailer camera like I am having? Was it the camera or the truck?

 

I would really like to find someone with a similar truck to hook up to my trailer but finding one is going to be tough. Not sure if I should take the camera off the trailer and bring it to the dealer or just bring the truck in. My dealer has no room to bring both in unless I find a different dealer with more room.

These trucks use "hacked up" Pulse Width Modulated DC going back to the trailer connection for the trailer lights. The camera uses the same PWM DC voltage to power your camera.

 

You can purchase a PWM filter in between your camera and your camera connection. You can get these filters on Amazon for next to nothing.

Also, make sure your camera monitor is not set to cycle between camera's. It needs to be set not to cycle, i.e stay on the same camera without trying to cycle.

This makes zero sense. Why would I put PWM filters on a factory trailer camera?

 

Also, there is no camera cycling.
