Overheating cd player - finally fixed

I know we talked about this some time ago, but when my cd player would get hot it would get so hot it would start skipping cd's and then the cd was too hot to even touch - well, now that the weather is much warmer I was able to get the dealer to reproduce the problem! I'm not sure what the error is (I will find out tonight when I pick it up), but they sent the cd player out to be fixed. I guess the first time I took it in it was too cold out and it took too long to get heated up - now with the temps in the high 80's it took no time to heat up and the dealer finally got it fixed. If you have the same problem now that the weather is warmer take it in and it won't take anytime to have the problem! Good luck and I'm happy to have my cd player back where I can now listen to a cd for longer than 30min w/o it skipping and ejecting because it was so hot!!

Mine doesn't get so hot that the CD's skip and eject, but they get VERY hot after playing for a short time. Do you think this is also a problem?

The player is clean, and I've never had another CD player warm CD's this much.

keep an eye on it - mine skipped every ten seconds or so no matter what cd i had in the player - it took about 45min to get hot enough to do it but it eventually would skip like mad - now that's much hotter it only took about 20 min to start skipping - keep an eye on it and if they start to skip take it into the dealer - cd's will get hot obviously, but these cd's were extremely hot. good luck and keep a close eye on it especially as it gets hotter out!

i dont concider it a problem...

i have it to with an aftermarket alpine... sometimes i drop the cd because its so hot when it comes out...

maybe the radio is so close to the firewall and the engine.. that maybe thats what makes it hot.?

Understood, but the player would skip after about 30min or so and that was when the player got extremely hot. Now that I've gotten it back from the dealer I listened to a cd for almost 45 min last night driving around and no skip and when I ejected the cd it was warm not hot like it used to be and it was 90 degrees yesterday too. Not sure what the porblem was biut something was wrong and the dealer found it. Oh well, it works great now

I had mine replaced a couple of months ago for the same problem.

it could be a gm toaster with a cd face-plate. Try a slice or rye or whole wheat bread in the slot... look under Toast in the Index of the Owner's Manual and it could save some confusion.

My mother has a Buick Rendevous that cooks her Johnny Mathis, Bobby Darin, and Barry Manilow CD's.... absolutely no problem with that IMO.
