I dont know about everyone else but this chase bullsh@# is F#$%#@# gay. I cant believe the way this sh@# worked out. I swear ive have just officially quit with nascar. Unless they change the points system back to the way it use to be.

i feel your pain. i know that kurt played the system to win the cup.

but like any sport that has a playoff season everyone knows any team can win

as long as they are the best team durring the playoffs. with the old point system

jeff gordon would have won, not that that excites me anymore than kurt winning.

but if dale jr had won i wouldn't care about the points system . so i think the fans

need time to get used to nascar having a playoff season. where it doesn't matter how well u did in the regular season but how good your playoff season is that determines who wins the cup. unfortunatly this year it was kurt

It's gonna take some time to get used to. But I like it so far. We'll have to see what next year brings. I personally, at this point think it's better than the old style.

I think it's great to give 5 guys a shot at the title rather than 2, or have the guy win it before the last race.

I'm sorry to say this, but as a Roush fan (via Mark Martin) I'm Glad Kurt won it. I'd rather see Kurt Busch win 1 championship than Jeff Gordon get 5. And I'm looking forward to Rooting Martin to the Championship next year.

I like AND dislike the new points system....although looking at it one way is this:

The team who was the best all season long, not only in wins but consistency in finishes should be the champion (points reflecting) rather than the best team during 10 races. On the other hand, you have to be pretty good all year to get into the top ten after 26 races......tough to call.

BTW...poo on 97

I was happy with the points system, I just didn't like who won.

well that's the result of a playoff type system

i don't know if we have any hockey fans here but the way the calgary flames

made it to the stanly cup finals last season is the same as someone 8th or 9th wining the cup in the 10 race playoff

doesn't matter how well u do in the regular season as long as u make the playoffs .

you have to be at your best in the playoffs to win the cup

Hate the new points system. I think its unfair the way it is setup. Guys like Jamie McMurray and Dale Jarrett deserve to be in the top 10 because they raced better than guys like Mayfield and others during the last 10 races Some of thoses guys "Locked" into the top 10 would've fallen out under the old system. Jamie Mac and DJ had no shot to move up in the standings under the "Chase" which I think is unfair.

NASCAR got what they wanted though, artificially created buzz about the series, however they probably have just as much negative as positive. All I know is that this fan of 20 years turned off the tv in the last 10 races and maybe watched about 70 laps total.

Im not impressed, thrilled or awed by Brian Frances idiotic new system that rewards mediocrity and penalizes those who work hard from day one all year long. Its almost like Income tax, the more you earn the more they take away in the last 10 races it feels like.

I will not be renewing my tickets for any of the races in 05, and plan to watch hardly any racing that is NASCAR sanctioned next year. They just lost a long time fan, my money is better served by keeping it in my pocket than going into the hands of the money eating juggernaut known as NASCAR.

Next year I'll be watching USAR and ASA where the real racing still takes place, along with WoO.

I hear what you saying man...I really cant believe how this year turned out in the end. That is so not what i thought was going to happen. I really liked at the end of the race how BP said oh it might not be over. But everyone knew darn well that sh#$ was over at the beginning of the race. Im so sick of this Chase for the cup crap. That if they dont get with it and change it back to the way it was before. I am officially done with Nascar. Can't believe im saying this but it's true. They have made a mistake in my book.

I'm not meaning to flame anyone here, but I keep hearing comparisons to other sports and their playoff system. They're not comparable. What other sport has all the sports teams, competing at the same time, on the same day, at the same event. None. A playoff just doesn't fit in NASCAR.

The chase is nothing more than a manufactured points race for ratings and money. Look at some of the side effects. We have a champion who had 4 top 5s in the first 26 races. We had the top guys in the series experimenting with motors from race 22-26 instead of racing. The race for the top ten ended at race 26. Mayfield gets to stay in the top ten. I could keep going too.

This format hurts nascar's credibility as a real sport. Brian France needs to stop watching professional wrestling. A ten race Championship will never measure up to a season long championship.

If Nascar wants excitement, fix the cars. Give them an areo package so they can pass and race like they did in the 80s and early 90s. Instead, they gave us the continuation of the areo push and a manufactered championship.

The new points system might have made the last 10 races more exciting, but it changes what Nascar has always been about, consistency over 36 races. Now a team can take it easy and just get in the top 10, and then test like crazy and spend tons of money for the last 10 races. The pressure is also going to be put on the teams from the spons0rs, like Napa has done to Waltrip. There will be more and more spons0rs saying make the chase if you want sponsorship. The sponsors in the chase must love it b/c of all the publicity they recieved. I'm not liking what NA$CAR is becoming lately... :banghead:

I was happy with the points system, I just didn't like who won.

You see iI do not agree with that at all. That was not the result of the "playoff system" it was just the result of me not liking Kurt Busch. I didn't like it when Matt Kenseth won and there was no playoff system. There were plenty of times I didn't like who won before and the system was not a "playoff system". What the new system did that I liked was made it possible for more than one or two people to have a chance.

Reality is that Jr. had been 9th or 10th and got in the chase and won most people heere would be happy about it. But b/c he didn't win they are not. I wish he would have won, but I'm not going to blame the point system for it.

One thing it did do is take the championship down to the last race.......hell it took it to the last lap of the season. It made it very exciting.

Kurt Busch and his owner is my least favorite too.........but look at it this way Daytona is only 83? days away and we get to start all over....yahoo.... :seeya:

I liked the system I was going for Mark Martin even though I'm a Jr. Fan. Mark got crashed in that one race and I feel that he gave up after that....

Anyways, the system was exciting even though I can't stand Kurt Bush, Jimmie Johnson and Jeffie. BUT I do agree with the sponsorship thing. "If you don't make the chase we're gone" will be unfortunately a phrase heard by sponsors from now on.

While I'm on Sponsorship, The Hard liquor thing really gets me mad. Jeff Burton needed a sponsor despirately and found one (Crown Royal) and NASCAR said no. Same with all the indipendants that run like Carl Long. These guys need sponsors and NASCAR would rather have their image than let these guys have a sponsor.

NASCAR thinks they are getting away from the southern redneck image but I'll bet 95% of America Still associates NASCAR with rednecks.

Yeah but atleast they're giving in on it, better late than never.

The thing that gets me, Kids are still gonna be exsposed to the stuff whether or not Nascar promotes responsibility or not....

I was exposed to Jack Daniels and Crown Royal 2 or 3 years ago, and it wasn't because of Sports advertising. My deal was having friends over 21 who had no problem contributing to minors. I declined (I felt it wasn't right), because of the values instilled in me by my mother.

Another thought, all those fans in RVs that come to race weekends, what do you think they stock their fridge with? I bet you'll find more than Budweiser in most of them.

Nascar is too busy trying to be something it's not, a G-Rated sport.

While on the subject, I think all the dip companies should come back. Could you imagine what would be flying around in Victory lane of one of those cars one these days? :D
