I had many vehicles over the last 7 or 8 years. The boat and kids have dictated the changing vehicles. I have been happy with all of them, and would by any of them again if the time was right.

98 GMC Sierra Black Z71 4X4 Extended Cab - Love it, been a great truck for the most part. Still in great shape for the year and still has low km's only about 150,000kms. Added 20s, euro lights all around, keyless entry, along with pioneer deck new speakers, amp and a couple 10s for subs. Pros: good power for an older vehical has the 350 in it. Cons: not really many leaked oil for a while finally got that fixed, also had to replace all the 02 sensorys, otherwise been reliable. Also the gas miliage is not the greatest but thats what you get for an older truck with a 350 in it. A 4th door would be nice as well. At least it has the 3rd.

 

Hoping to get a new 07 with the 6.0L in it once i can afford it ...

1993 Chevy Silverado 1500 Extended cab My first new vehicle. Pros: 5.7L motor, auto transmission, A/C, power locks, power windows, AM/FM/cassette. Only replaced alternator and water pump plus normal maintenance. Cons: 40/60 bench seat (buckets are the only way to go), 2 doors, transmission starting acting up after 11 years and only 125k miles. It would not shift into 3rd at times.

1996 Chevrolet K1500 Cheyenne Ext. Cab. Long Bed 4x4- loved this truck. was a tank. got it from my dad, between the two of us we had zero problems besides ur standard maintenance. power nothing, a/c and cc was it. threw on bigger tires and a front grille guard and put in a cd player. the only con would be it only had 220 hp. compared to today its a dog. but i loved it inside and out. sold it.....

 

....and bought what I have now....

 

2005 Chevrolet Silverado Ext. Cab Long Bed. Z-71. basically an upgrade in every way shape and form over the 1996. although i miss the front bench. this truck is so awesome i love it. its basically all stock for now, did some chrome upgrades and bigger tires, but im getting there. i plan on having it for a while. cons would be, i dunno. i dont have anything to complain about.

So far I have owned:

 

First I owned a 1983 Camaro Z28, it had a carbed 5.0L and it also had a 5 speed manual tranny. It was a pretty cool car, I learned to drive manual it this car. It was an '83 Z28, but It had the ground effects of an IROC-Z and it had the IROC rims, so it basically looked like a Camaro IROC-Z. Pretty cool car but I ended up selling it, cause it needed a lot of work.

 

Next is my dad's Chevy Suburban, it is a 2003 and it came with the 5.3L Vortec engine. It is a pretty cool SUV, it has a center console,bose,power seats. It is pretty nice crusing in it. It has over a 100,000 miles and it still runs like new and it still has the same brakes from when it was new. Only thing replaced has been the tires. It is a pretty reliable SUV.

 

Next is my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, I bought brand new in March Of 2006. It is an awesome truck, it came with the 5.3L Vortec engine. It has fog lights,tow package,steering wheel controls, 17" Chevy rims and it has the best color of 2006 which is Graystone Metallic. It is a pretty fast truck, it is way faster than my Camaro Z28 that I had. Had some problems with it though: First, I had Chevy change my CD player, cause it the one I had just stopped working out of nowhere, warranty took care of it. Next my brakes gave out at 20,000 miles and now again I have to replace them again, I need brake pads,two new rotors and two new calipers. Third is that my steering wheel controls don't light up at night. Other than that, this truck is awesome. I put a dual flowmaster exhaust on it and it sounds really mean. I also put a Chevy logo on the hitch cover, I also put the low beam Silver Star bulbs on the headlights and I put the Silverstar bulbs on my foglights. Next, I'll probably put limo tint on all my windows except the front winshield.

 

But of all these cars I have driven, I like my Silverado way better. The camaro was cool, but it was too slow and it needed a lot of work. The Suburban is cool for when you have family. But the truck is quick, could carry anything in the bed, looks awesome, and it is the best truck or car I have ever owned.

My Signature is pretty much the trucks i am around now. Im enjoying my new "900" and curently no cons. well except for the whole 4 sec throttle deley discussed in other forums having to do with torque management system. except for my moms and sisters ride the others all have been used in our landscaping business hauling trailers and equipment. other than regular maintaince repairs have been fuel pump and brakes. no trannys or major engine repairs made, and they all average about 150k miles except for my sisters 2007 has 10k and my dads 2005 which has 90k.

 

Not on the list is my dads 87 GMC S-15, We dubbed it The Terminator due to the fact that it was wrecked 4 times before his insurance finally deemed it totaled. even still after that it was still running, he went to the junkyard got the fenders and bumbers and it was good again. unbelievably he kept it till 96 when he sold it to a nephew to go towards the down payment of the 97 Silverado. Word is it still running somewhere with the same fenders from the junkyard my dad put on it.

1970 K5 - stepdad rebuilt all but the interior, gave it to me for graduation. Went like hell through everything (and I tried). Completed the interior and sold it. (Stupid, stupid, stupid) I miss that truck.

 

1986 Ford F-150. Had 125,000 on it, but it nice condition. Had to fix something every couple weeks.

 

1998 Ford Ranger. Bought it with 18,000 and had so many noises, I didn't know where to start. Sold it after only 3 weeks. Never will buy another Ford!

And now a first time chevy owner and loving it so far dark charcoal grey 04 silverado Z71 crew cab with the 5.3L. Man those tires like like to spin under heavy throttle, these trucks are torque monsters.

Okay, here goes, beginning with the first car out of high school:

 

1980 Buick Century (handmedown from Mom, naturally, had the gray velour seats. I cringe thinking about them now.)

1984 Pontiac Bonneville (another Mom car, more velour, this time sage green)

1988 Pontiac Sunbird - easily the toughest car I've ever owned. Wrecked it five times, I could not kill the thing, despite trying.

1994 Chevy Camaro - only the 3.8 L engine, nothing special, but a lot of fun. Drove it the length of the PCH from Oakland to Los Angeles, what a hell of a fun drive. Made being stationed at Twentynine Palms, CA, a lot easier to bear.

1998 Chevy S-10 with ZR2 package- great truck, except for the pig iron GM used in the seat back adjustment. Broke that little gem three times. Hit a deer with it on the Natchez Trace Parkway somewhere in Alabama, all it did was bend the front bumper bracket, killed the deer. The 4.3L engine was a gas hog, and that's back when Saddam made us think $2 / gal was highway robbery. I could go exactly 106 miles from my house to the parking lot of the USMC reserve center at Fort Knox and see the gas needle hover above empty on arrival.

2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT - good car, not enough oomph.

2003 Cadillac CTS - annoying glitches in this one. Stabilitrak system would engage on dry pavement, causing car to jerk to one side and immediately slow down. Took three trips to the dealer to get fixed.

2004 Cadillac CTS-V - mmmmmmmm. Oh, how I miss my baby, but I had to get practical once I got transferred and had to start commuting 60 miles a day. Sold it to a kid up north who has probably already wrapped her around a telephone pole.

2004 Chevy Colorado - Nothing wrong with it, but easily the worst turning radius of any vehicle I have ever owned. Why the hell does that truck turn like it's a d**n semi towing a wide load behind it? Traded it six months after I bought it and got a....

2004 GMC Sierra Denali - current ride. Oh, how I love Quadrasteer. Not a fan of the gas mileage, especially with gas climbing now, but I'm in for the long haul. It's a great truck. Currently accumulating the right head unit and antenna to add navigation to it, which will help offset my negative sense of direction.

84 Chevy Custom V8305 2 wheel drive long bed single cab:

When I got this truck is had a mobile home window with aluminum panels on either side installed in the back window cause I guess it would cost too much to put new glass in... I ripped that out which ticked me off cause when they put that window in the bent all the widow edging in and I had to pound it all back before installing new window. Leaked oil everywhere but no coolant in oil Did head gaskets, oil pan rear and front seal, new oil pump, added eddlebrock intake and carberator, rewired wiring harness into firewall(corroaded from oil residue). And then it ran like a champ!

 

84 Chevy Silverado 3/4 4 wheel Drive single cab 350 long bed W/ plow.:

All I did to this truck was redue oil pan gasket, rear and front seal, and oil pump. Oh and I had to put a new silenoide for the plow. Used this truck to pull Derby cars!

 

1996 Chevy Silverado Extended Cab 2 wheel drive short bed w/V6 4.3:

Drove for like 6 months added Tonhoe cover and receiver hitch which I never used.

 

99 Chevy silverado K1500 Classic Ext Cab Z71 This truck I am driving now it has a v8 350 5.7L I am about ready to go over 180,000.:

This truck I turned up the torsion bars in the front about two inches. Just recently switched out two inch blck with three inch block. Added Toolbox bed rale guards. Wired up for 7 point and 4 point trailers. Installed cb radio, cb radio, XM radio, after market Alpine head unit, ho switch, viper alarm system keyless entry remote start with motion detection. Brake Controller and I got one of those rear view mirrows with the temp guage and auto dimming(still have to wire that up)...

In the engine I added K&N Cold air intake, Throttle body spacer, Mass air flow Sensor, Throttle body improvement flange, and Superchips programer... I did roll on Herculiner which I am kickin my self because I only did once coat I mean it was like 2 in the morn when I finished. Also have cat back exhaust with no muflers and like 2 bends on the one side for spare tire w/4" chrome tips w/ on high fow cat and on hold to put another in when it goes bad.

All I have replaced is the starter, tuneups, back window seal and some O2 sensors and thats about it!

1969 Ford...First truck, never let me down!! Good, solid, old BEAST

1994 Mazda B 2300 4 cyl 5 speed, tame, predictable, nice little truck

1989 Ford Bronco loved it, couldn't afford to drive it

2005 Dodge Dakota 4.7, 4x4, good transportation when it worked (thank GOD for new car warranties), terrible MPG. Nice looking truck, but HATED to be worked, and towed like a underpowered, import 6 cyl and not an American V-8

 

2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 (new to me)...First Chevy ever, but after driving my dad's '03 it seemed head and shoulders above the previous truck (Dakota) Searched and found a cherry used Chevy 102K miles. 4.8, 2wd, Ext cab, with a few good options. Hope she hold up because I really like it!

'89 Doge Raider Nice truck, but just a rebadged Mitsu Montero. Had a cool shock in the driver seat.

'97 Dodge SLT Laramie, 5.2L, 4WD Loaded w/ leather. All around great truck. 127,000 miles and the tranny blew. Perfect otherwise.

 

'05 GMC Sierra WT 4.3L 2WD Still going strong w/45,000. Both tailgate latches busted and other than that, its a GREAT worktruck.

 

'07 Silverado NBS 5.3L 2WD ST1 300 miles and I am still getting to know her.

*1989 Silverado Stepside Reg cab: Great little pickup. Had the 5.7 and awesome power. I beat this truck and it help up great. The standard was a lot of fun too.

*1992 Ford Bronco: Wasn't to please with this truck. The only thing i miss was the fact that it had a lift kit and could drive over stuff. Was hard to get stuck too. Thing was a dog and it felt so delicate i was afraid to shut the doors

*2001 Silverado ext cab: Great truck thats really fast for a pickup (5.3). Havent had it for more than 2years now but havent had any problems. Takes pretty well to upgrades too.
