Trucks you have owned

Recommended Posts

1. 1990 Chevy Cheyenne, Smoke Blue Metallic, 5.0L, Std cab, longbed, matching fiberglass cap, awesome factory metal hubcaps! Got it 9/7/97 from my grandpa w/ 23,232 miles. Traded it in 8/24/10 with 144,xxx miles. I would still have it but my family grew to 4. This was my daily driver for 13 years, and if I ever see it again I would probably buy it back.

2. 2004 2dr Blazer LS 4x4, Black. Bought it 5/3/08 with 38,xxx miles. Used it for winter driving and long family trips. Shared it with my wife. Loved driving it. Traded it in 8/24/10 w ith 58,xxx miles on it along the 1990 because I needed a bigger family truck, and this Blazer needed an expensive repair between every oil change. My Blazer looked perfect in and out and had low miles, but it always had a different leak or some sort of expensive problem. Fun to drive when it was not in the shop. Spent more $$ repairing this in my 2 years of owning it than I spent in the 13 years with my Cheyenne.

3. 2010 Silverado WT, Ext. Cab, 4.3 V6, Victory Red. Bought it 8/24/10 with 21 miles new. Today 8/23/11 it has 19,048 miles. Added matching fiberglass cap with carpeted liner, a Chevy Bedrug, and upgraded the AM/FM to a CD with Aux input and USB input. This truck is great. I don't like having a passenger airbag because I miss having my daughter ride up front like she did in my old truck. Otherwise its a great truck, and it is much easier owning one vehicle than two.

First vehicle I ever had was a 1948 Chevy Half ton short bed that had belonged to my step fathers father. Three on the tree. The original 216 inline six was seized so we rebuilt it. Cool truck but not fun to drive in L.A. traffic. First vehicle I could drive was a 76 Ford Granada that my buddys Grandpa bought new. Rebuilt the trans. [c4] and that old car ran forever, even after I sold it, engine was a 302 v8. Sold that to pay for my next project, 1953 Willy's 4x4 pickup. One of the best rigs I have ever had. It had a 230 Chevy inline 6, warn overdrive and was just a great truck. It really would go damn near anywhere. Can't remember the gear ratio exactly but it was either 4:88's or 5:38's. Loved that old truck, unfortunately after having it for 6 years I was in a pretty bad collision on a two lane, totalled the truck and just about totalled me. Next was my 1964 Olds Cutlass F-85, owned it for 20 years and what a car. Even the original 330 V8 was a runner but eventually I put a ridiculously overbuilt 425 in it. The damn thing would roast them on command at 60 miles an hour. Hated to let it go but it got to the point where it needed a complete restoration and I had to many cars. I sold it super cheap to a trusted old friend that loved it as much as I, he is currently in the process of doing a frame off restoration. Lots of memories in that old Olds.

1970 Jeep J4000 4x4 pickup truck, a rust bucket but what a great rig. Had a 350 Buick V8 with the H.D. 4spd. manual. Loved to drive it in the winter because I didn't have to worry about people hitting me. It was so ugly I left the keys in it at all times. Eventually it had a rod knock and wasn't worth fixing, gave it away. 1987 GMC Jimmy S-15, 4x4, 2.8 v6, yes I know everyone says they are junk but I took care of it and it got me by for three years, it was in good shape too. Traded it in on a 94 Ford Explorer Sport that was a good little rig too, 2 door etc. That got traded for a 98 Toyota Tacoma v6, 4x4 TRD, great truck but needed more room. Traded that for my 96 Ford Bronco XLT with a 5.8. I loooooved my Bronco I really did but eventually the steel roof cracked and started leaking, [they all do it] and the repair was looking to be potentially pretty costly.

Bronco got traded in for a new 2006 Toyota Tacoma, Double Cab, SR5, 4x4, TRD Off Road. Great vehicle and was awesome, did everything I ever asked of it with aplomb. However there were times I wanted more bed and cab space as well as towing capacity. With the family growing it was time for a bigger rig so I traded the Taco for my current ride an 07 GMC Sierra 1500HD 4x4 crew cab with a 6.0, auto. I really liked my last Taco but I love my GMC! There were other cars but these are the ones of note. I still have my old 68 Mustang but thats a whole nother story. Like I said I love my GMC!

1st- First truck I ever bought was a 1999 Ford Ranger. It had a 3.0 engine. Really reliable, but I wouldnt necessarily call it a truck. I didnt mind the truck though, but the interior plastic was crap and my 2005 Silverado gets the same gas mileage.

2nd- 2005 Silverado extended cab. Love the truck, drives great. Only thing that annoys me with it is the rattling. Seems like these models have rattling problems all over. My steering column rattles and my doors now seem to rattle too.

My trucks keep getting bigger and bigger... and lighter in color. LOL

1991 S-10 shortbed (black) - was a 4-banger (2.5L) , 5-speed manual with no power steering, radio, or AC. Loved the truck. Bought it my senior year in high school. Put 176,000 miles on it in 10 years. Went through 3 clutches. when i bought the truck, i had no idea on how to drive a stick. I learned on the way home. Dad flipped me the keys and said, see ya at home, and left me! I beat that truck to hell and it took it.

2001 Silverado Ext Cab (medium gray metallic) - My first big truck. was the 4.8L vortec. it was only a 2-wheel drive and I didn't do much customization to it. I added a bed liner, CD changer, rail bars and XM radio. This was my first truck with AC, and i was in heaven! Even had a radio! Last fall I had an issue with the transmission and it started to go. I had 178,000 miles on it.

2010 Silverado Crew Cab Z71 (summit white) - My baby. every guy has a dream truck and this is it! from the time I bought my S-10 until September 30, 2010, I always wanted a 4x4. I got one now. All my mods are listed below. I will drive this until the wheels fall off. I absolutely love this truck!

97 GMC Sierra SLE 2500

Great truck. Been reliable, pulls my sleds, boat and RV when I had one great.

Cons, that 5.7L like to gulp down the fuel, about 125 bucks a tank! ride is bumpy when I am just using it to drive around.
