1971 Chevrolet C/10 350/Auto - Same truck I rode in from the hospital after I was born. Bought new by my dad. Pros- Ran like a bat out hell Cons - 8 MPG up hill & down hill. It is still in the family so that is my next resto project, it definitly deserves it!

1970 C/10 250/3 on the tree - bought as a parts truck for my 71 but was in too good of shape to part out so I sold it for a decent profit. Original owner thought it had a rod knocking but it had a loose balancer. It fell off when I removed the fan belt!. I tapped the crank instaled the new crank key & bolt with JB weld and was running like a top when sold!

1990 Silverado sportside reg cab 350/Auto - best truck I ever owned 200,000 miles of loyal, trouble free service. Almost Cried when I sold her!

1997 Silverado Ext cab 350/auto - biggest POS I have owned. Was at the dealer 12 times for engine knocking, computer/fuel probs. Final straw was when it wouldn't start one morning and the odometer read 32,666 miles! Was traded the next day.

2000 Silverado Ext cab 5.3/auto - Been a very good truck only been at the dealer once for leaking head gaskets. Time to upgrade though, going to get an '07 900 CC whenever the deals get better.

1984 Jeep Cherokee 4cyl 5 spd - it was old and a 4 banger

2000 GMC Sonoma 4cyl auto - 4x2 and 4cyl was kinda a bummer, but it had no fluff (pw pl keyless entry)

1995 Chevy Monte Carlo Z34 - it was a great runner BUT it turned into a hole in the ground I had to dump money into (was still acting up when I traded it)

1997 Dodge Ram 5.2L auto - Loved the truck, and would have it to this day if it was a 4x4.

2004 Dodge Ram 3.9L auto - biggest mistake of my life (other than the fact that it was brand new)

2005 Chevy Colorado 3.5L 5spd Z71 4x4 - Loved this truck, and only traded to try and get ahead of the curve (employee pricing for everyone bit me)

2006 Chevy Silverado 5.3L Z71 - this truck is everything I've ever wanted

Here is my list of GM trucks owned, complete with the pro's and con's of each.

1971 Chevy C-20: 3/4 ton, two wheel drive "custom" with three-on-the-tree, a 250 6cyl and power brakes. Pro's: my first vehicle! Pretty much a beater that I didn't have to worry to much about. Learned a lot about working on trucks. Hauled a boat load of stuff in this beauty. Con's: lack of power from the 6 cyl, could only muster about 60 MPH on a good day.

1982 Chevy K-20: 1/2 ton 4x4 with 305v8 and four speed manual, PS, PB with "custom deluxe" interior (no AC). Pro's: first four wheel drive, tranny much better than the three-on-tree, 3.08 gears made her roar on the highway. Still a beater, so didn't have to worry about scratches. Con's: 3.08 ratio made her a dog down low. No AC. Auto hubs had to be replaced with manual lockers. Uncomfortable seat (mainly due to previous owner).

1987 GMC K-20 HD: Purchased this HD 4x4 from my Dad. Was the mid level "sierra" with AC, PS, PB, manual windows and no cruise. 350v8 with 4 speed manual. Pro's: HD 4x4 could haul just about anything I could get in the bed. Loved the stiff ride. AC was great (first truck with AC!) First year with EFI. Solid truck that ran well. Con's: Not many. Still wish I had this truck. Steering was a little loose. Not very family friendly...baby seat didn't fit well between wife and I (which lead to...)

1999 Silverado 1500 Ext Cab: Z-71 package with buckets, LS package, 5.3 engine. Pro's: Long list here...power pretty much everything, extended cab, comfy ride, powerful & fast, got great MPG, CD player, etc., etc. Con's: Why only three doors?

2001 Silverado 1500 Ext Cab: Again, Z-71 package and pretty much everything from the 1999...except this one had FOUR doors and the temp guage in the mirror. Pro's: Just like the 99, only better! Con's: For some reason got worse MPG than the 99(?).

2004 Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab: 4x4/8.1/Allison, LT package, DVD, On-star, XM, Leather, etc. This is pretty much my dream truck. The 245's had to go. Need bigger fuel cell.

Wow, this thread's still getting replies...I had better update. Spring of 2005 purchased myself a 1972 Chevy K-20 (3/4 ton 4x4). It's a mutt (body from Camper Special, frame/running gear from 3/4 ton 4x4). Has factory air, tach, tilt wheel. Cracked block last year, so pulled engine and put in a crate 350. Great truck to have around and work on when I get time. Fun stuff.

Trucks I liked: 82 Dodge W350 4x4--it could pull anything and took home as much wet soil as we could fit in the bed one afternoon (7-8000 pounds). Bought at auction from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. 78 F150 4x4 named Medusa--need I say more--for $400. 1976 GMC K2500--the realter signs in the neighborhood made great floor panels and got me through inspection. 1978 W150 SB--$300 and a new tranny and that truck went far. Used mortar mix in the rocker panels to pass inspection. 1988 Dakota--$900 and a new motor. Installed Explorer rims and cut the rear wheel wells to make a true 4' x 8' bed. 1995 K2500 purchased at auction from Pacific Gas and Electric. Besides the paint leaping off the body, a nice solid truck. 05 Z71--my first new vehicle and overall I am happy, but with complaints given that I spent ten times more on it than any other truck I have owned.

Trucks I disliked: 84 S-10--it needed 3-6" in every direction and it should not take three hours to change an oil sender. 1978 F150 SB--it had too many past lives. 1974 F150 for $300--DOA

1989 GMC Sierra RCSB (stepside) 4x4 215,000 miles, 2 tranny rebuilds 1 g80 Explosion. Ran great, couldn't beat that 5.7. Family got too big for a regular cab.

1997 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 ECSB, what a mistake, looked great but was a mechanical nightmare, within two years the Transfer case, and rear were grenaded. Rode like a brick, thought my fillings were falling out of my teeth. Maintenance items like changing the plugs/cap and rotor, what a nightmare. Rear axle seals leaked, even after being "fixed" twice.

2002 Silverado 2500HD ECSB 8.1 Allison, awesome power, great ride for a 2500, cons GAS mileage or lack of.

2002 Sierra Denali, Best truck so far hands down, Quadrasteer is awesome, great power (faster than the 8.1L), and better gas mileage doesn't hurt.

1991 S-10- Regular cab long bed 2WD with a 4.3 liter and a 4 speed auto. It was a good truck for a starter, drove it to about 160,000 with regular maintenace.

1998 GMC Sierra 1500- This is my current truck. It is an ECRB with a 350, 4WD, auto. I have had this truck for three years and haven't had a single problem yet at 133,000 miles.

My first truck was a 77 Ford Econoline 150...Hippy Van LOL, reliable truck, Put headers on the 300 6 cyl, paneling, carpet, sound system, two sunroofs, custom calmax seats, and of course the Bed LOL..I have alot of good memories from that truck...got married....The party ended!!!!

Then I went Jap! 87 Mazda extra cab SE5...good reliable truck, NO power! First wife got it in the divorce settlement, she abused the hell out of it, but it never let her down.

Next another 87 Mazda B2000 LX RC....Loaded little truck! no power! Got from Dad, he was tired of the 5speed. I put alittle money in it, added a catback system, just basically TLC'd it, Very reliable, drove it a couple of years.....Then Dad wanted it back...its my Dad...granted his wish, and traded it back to him for a 92 Plymouth Acclaim...gave that to my daughter, for her 16 birthday!

I needed another Truck!! found an 88 Mazda...It had Issues..carburator I think! Otherwise it was OK, Lowered this one, looked nice! Sold it for what I bought it for!

Next 01 Nissian SE 5 speed EXCAB..Loved the new look, with the big headlites and flares etc, Underpowered with the 4 cyl, (but had more than the Mazdas) LOL, It had an isssue with the rear ABS, but was fixed under warrenty...My major cripe with it were the seats. They seem to cause some major leg pain on long drives, very uncomfortable...otherwise pretty good truck...I added a catback on this one too with a flowmaster muffler...d**n it was loud!!

Current it my Favorite!! 03 Silverado RCSB....What can I say, I love this truck, tons of aftermarket! It has the 4.8 auto, tinted windows, chrome package. I added OEM SS 20" rims, magnaflow cat back, HPP3, denali dash bezel, white gauages with billet surround, GMC mouldings, Trenz boltover with matching tow hook grilles, painted the lower valence to match, 06 painted bumper cover, Tahoe door handles, painted tailgate handle,white oem mirror covers, and a 2" rear shackles to level her up! I'm always thinking what to do next..I have a steel roll pan that may go on this summer, and I'm pondering a 2/4 drop, but the tires will need replaced to do that bc of the 55 series GY's I'm running now! The only problems have been that ding/dang intermediate steering shaft X 2...fixed under warrenty tho!

1993 Ford Explorer - Good truck. Good gas mileage.

1997 Ford Expedition - One of my favorite trucks. This truck reminds me of my single days.

2000 Chevy Tahoe LS - Nice truck. No complaints. My first truck with leather interior.

2003 GMC Yukon SLT - Very nice. Only complaint was cheap looking interior.

2007 Chevy Tahoe - The best truck I've ever owned. Night and day from previous generation.

First Truck - 85 Toyota Reg Cab SR5, Bullet proof 22R 4 cyl. Took a lick'n kept on tick'n.

1995 S-10 2wd xcab 4 cyl. Nice for the mileage but couldn't get out of its own way.

1977 Jeep CJ 5 Straight 6 Lots of power and lots of rust... Just a toy, 3 speed made it impossible on the highway.

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Nice truck but should have gotten better than 13 MPG

2000 Sierra 5.3 SLE XCLB Z71. After a trip to Chicago the long bed had to go...

2001 Sierra 5.3 SLT XCSB Z71. Probably one of the nicest trucks I have owned. Still see it around town looking good.

2002 Sonoma 4.3 2wd XCsport side. Sharp truck... I just forgot how much room those trucks did not have...

1988 GMC K5 Jimmy 5.7 Sierra Classic. Was nice when my father owned it... By the time I bought it from him it was pretty much worn out and rusty... Just another toy

2002 Yukon XL 5.3 SLE. Nice truck for the new family. Great for packing up for camping and the beach.

2004 Trailblazer LT 6 cyl. Nice truck for my wife... She drove 50-60 miles per day and the best she could muster was 15 MPG. Why are those 6 cyl such gas hogs.

2004 Silverado 1500 Crew 5.3 LT. Real nice truck... aside form the "normal" steering shaft lubes, the only issue I had was with the steering box. After two dealers, the problem was solved by swapping out steering boxes (670 to 680). I think I will be holding on to this truck for a while... But those new Sierras look real nice. Hope I do not come down with another case of "T-tag" Fever.
