Go to your local dealer and grab a brochure.

I have one my PO gave me that lists everything (all Silverado trucks) for '03. I'm glad he kept it. He was going to pitch it and asked me if I wanted it.

Probably not a whole lot of basic stuff hasn't changed much over the years. It has things like towing, axle ratios available, wheelbase, etc.

Best to get a broacher for the trucks your interested in. Too many different configurations to keep track of them all.

GVW

1500 from 6100 to 7000 depending on 2wd or 4wd and cab configuration

1500HD is the same as 2500 and are all 8600

2500HD is 9200

3500srw is 9900

GCWR

1500 from 9500 to 13000

2500 and 1500HD from 14000 to 16000

2500HD from14000 to 22000

GVW (Gross Vehicle weight) information. This can be found on the drivers door jamb. This is the total max the vehicle can weigh. You weigh the vehicle in it's everyday trim (ie with driver any tools etc) and subtract from the GVW and that is the payload.

A 1500 2wd reg cab long box has a gvw of 6400. If truck weighs 4400 (guess) driver weighs 200 and carries another 200lbs of crap around than the payload would be 1600lbs.

GCWR (Gross combined weight rating) This is more related to engine size and rear end ratio than GVW. (The truck cannot exceed its GVW this includes the tongue weight.)

The above truck with a 4.8 and 3.42 gears is rated at 11000lbs If the truck was loaded to its max - 6400lbs than it can pull a 4600lb trailer.
