99 Silverado alarm problem

hey guys,

my 99 silverado recently developed a new issue. (I needed another one...)

1. My fob works to lock and unlock the door

2. red panic button on fob works.

3. pushing the horn in cab works.

4. horn does not sound when lock button is pressed on fob. essentially the alarm isnt working. lights do flash once for arm/lock, twice for disarm/unlock.

my alarm does have a valet button under the steering wheel, but pressing it does nothing. there is also another box with a dial that can be turned. turning it has not helped either.

the manual hints that this could be a fuse if alarm does not sound, bu I don't think this is the case since the horn fuse and horn relay under the hood are fine.

What could be wrong? Is there a fuse I am missing? an alarm fuse other than the #3 run inline to the alarm "box?"

Not sure about what type of alarm you have.

On my 99 Silverado all I have is the standard Key Remote for locking/unlocking/panic. I have to press the lock button twice in order to hear a short burst from the horn, indicating it is locked, It does not sound the horn when I unlock the doors, only flashes the parking lights briefly.

Note: All the doors lock if I press the lock button once, that little horn burst on the hitting the button twice very quickly is only there to signal that "Yes stupid, the remote works and the doors were locked the first time you pressed the button."
