I think I killed it!

I was out and about in the snow saturday night, about an inch of snow on the road, I shifted gears, and the rear broke traction. I slid into an embankment and bulldozed a few small trees.

The lower valance on the bumper is gone, left front fender is pushed back, left-front turn signal-gone.

What should I be worried about? The way thethe fender is bent I'm worried about frame-bendage, and damage to suspension components. Anything else I'm not thinking about?

No worries....just think about what great chance you have now to get a new 06 on the cheap and leave the F with the fishies ah errr trees.

If you went over those trees...undercariage damage...brake lines, tank/pan punctures, wiring

Must have been going a pretty good clip before the slide.

A quick check can usually tell if your frame is straight and true. Drive slowly through a puddle of water and check your tire tracks. Should only be two! lol And they should be the same width.

If it drives straight, and isn't peeing fluid on the driveway...replace the valance and blinker, and try not to repeat it on the other side :D

Glad you're okay man.

you guys remember when I was in high school? I had a similiar incident withmy old chevy truck. cept the tress were probably bigger and it included a barbed wire fence......just scratches.

don't worry general, ford or not, I doubt a few small tress will hurt the frame of an american truck......if we were talking about a unibody ridgeline I'd be worried

How you been Snake? Long time no see.

Had the truck looked at be the body shop I'm planning on having it worked at. Estimator saw that the Front left wheel is towed out a good bit.

The Estimator is mainly concerned about how hood is now sittng. There's a good gap between the back of the hood and the firewall on "truck-left". They're gonna look into it more when I hand it over to them.

pretty good. Still haven't gotten a PC for the new house yet, so I stop by whenever I get my hands on one(parents or bro's house)....I'm waiting for the 64 bit windows to come out. I figure by then the new Athlon FX-60 Dual Core will be more reasonably priced. and plus, I spent the money on a new TV

Yep. When the Body shop started pulling things apart they found another page-worth of more broken pieces and parts.

Not quite a happy ending for th ol' Ferd, but oh well, moving on I am.

Whil I'm on th subject though, some of the things on the updated list had me miffed.

-What are frame extensions?

-How can you damage the AC condensor in a crash? Apparrently I had managed to do so.

I had a slight incident with my old '93 Jimmy a while ago.

A lady pulled out in front of me at an intersection and I t-boned her.

The Jimmy had a push bar which seemed to absorb most of the impact. I was able to drive away with only minor tire rub on sharp right turns, and the drivers door wouldn't open all the way (fender pushed back a little) The insurance company seemed to go by what the "typical" crash damage would be and totalled it.

I'm sure it could have been repaired for, at most, 1/2 the price they said it would take. Most of what they said needed repaired wasn't even damaged because of the pushbar !!

Oh well, good luck with whatever your new ride will be.
