Silver Birch Side Moldings turning brown!

I thought it was just dirt at first, but the side moldings on my 16 month old truck are definitely turning darker and darker brown. Must be cheap plastic. Thanks again, GM.

Anyone else with the Silver Birch paint noticing the same thing? or did I get the bad batch?

Must be one of those bad "made in mexico" batches....hell if it is only 16 months old...let GM try the canadian moldings...to be serious..have you tried any type of cleaner on it..or if you did use a cleaner could it of caused the discoloration...id still go to gm and get it changed out

I haven't tried any cleaner other than soap and water.

I have a friend with a '05 Chevy mini van and the molding is turning to rust. The dealer is replacing all of it. Maybe there is some kind of problem here.

Now that you mention it. The molding on my 2005 1500 HD silver birch is starting to look brownish. Hmmmm I will have to keep an eye on it.

Same thing is happening on my Sandstone. Only the pasenger side thou.

Thanks, I guess I'll take it back to the dealer.....I always hesitate to do that, they'll probably put them on crooked.

05 silver birch....mine is doing the same thing,getting really dull and brownish...kinda like the clear coat has evaporated,lol. if anyone goes to the dealer about it let us know what they say. I noticed it about 3 weeks ago while waxing the truck, and trying to remove the rust flecks.

Hehehehehe Yeah, I second that! I just came back from the dealer with a problem that they caused. For some reason they screwed up the balancing of my tires then inflated them to 80 psi on all 4. Fronts are supposed to be 50psi and only the rears are 80psi on the 1500HD. So not only did they have to rebalance them but for s**ts and giggles they also scratched my rim. Not going to bother going back, they would probally smash it up.

My truck is over 2 yrs old and the molding is still good to go,no problems, truck is the same color as yours.

are you waxing the moldings or no? I wax mine when i wax the truck, no problems.

2001 and no problems. Maybe different paint, but I think I have silver birch. I think they called it platinum my year. Looks like the same color though. I wax mine with the rest of the truck. WEas thinking of clay barring this weekend, but the rain has arrived. Hope this does not turn them brown. We will see.
