Anyone have a sony video camera?

I have been looking at them and would like some opinions.

I really like the 30GB HD model. There is a 60GB one for about $200 more.

Can you plug these into your computer and save the movies to DVD?

Are the mini disc ones any good?

All opinions welcomed. Reason i want to get one is for our wedding. Dont need a professional video I am going to have a friend tape parts of it. Save some $$$ and plus I can take some cool movies around the house and of my truck (watch out youtube hehe)

buddy has one of those handycams that burns to the CD as you record. im not a big fan of it, but it does make it easy to rip the CD straight to the computer, so its real easy. a lot of digital cameras haev movie functions athat are great quality, but not on par with camcorder-only units

well call me old fashioned but i would rather a MiniDV tape and then just pop it in my editing studio and then i have higher quality and i can always put a new tape in but i also do almost all of my work in HD and that is around 300Gb per hour of uncompressed video, so thats around 750Mb per second of video so 60 Gb is 61440 Mb. Do the math and that 60Gb drive lasts all of a wopping 1 minute and 22 seconds. Now given these are rough numbers.

Back to the origional question, I would avoid Hard drive based Video Cameras since you can always find tapes. But if you run out of Hard drive space you are stuck. The DVD based drives are nice but if you scratch the disc than you lose data. Tapes are still by far the best data storage media. Hell i still backup my storage server on 500Gb tapes. and i have around 3Tb of data on my server with another 2Tb available.

If you need video camera suggestions i have a few but i have to get back to work. let me know if you need any more info.
