I just ordered my completed steering wheel part #15917931 which is the all black leather wrapped with audio controls. Install was a easy the only part that was a little slow was unclipping the airbags, like a few others have posted about. My only issue I have is, how to verify if the wiring is connected on the oem radio to enable the steering wheel control? I going to be replacing the stock stereo with an Alpine and install the adapter for the steering wheel controls, but that will be in a few more months. But would like to have the control a little sooner. Any help would be great.

Not sure what you are asking here, but the controls are plug and play for the OEM radio. For an aftermarket, I would use PAC Audio's SWI JACK (steering wheel interface, jvc, alpine, clarion, kenwood). If you combine this with their OS-4, there is absolutely no wire splicing involved to keep the steering wheel controls. If you use something else, they all come with the instructions on how to tap into the output wire for the controls coming off the column connector. Hope this helps you.

No need, they are connected. Just make sure that all the connections at the steering wheel are good.

OK, I did a little looking around at old parts today trying to remember what was what. Here are a few photo's of how the wiring harness is mounted as well as what it looks like out of the wheel. Please keep in mind that these wheels may not necessarily reflect the exact same unit you have, it is all based upon trim level and options ordered. Couple of part numbers on this harness, I'd check them both. They are: 28050229 and Z49480229.

Here's a few photos of how it is routed in the wheel.

I'd like to see where the wires go to and where they're spliced inside the wheel harness

Thanks for the replies, I will check my connections again, the cruise control works, and both sides light up but no audio. I hope it is just a loose connection.

I checked all my connections again and tried it again. Still not working. Let me ask a question for the members that made this install, how many connections were there in the steering wheel colum? Just the blue connection that plugs in to the right of the Air bag leads. Am I missing one? A few posts back there was a picture of a green connector what was that for? I am sorry for so many questions, I read this forum multiple times and hearing all the success, and how everything is plug and play. I even took the stock stereo out to see if it was unplugged, but like you said they are connected.

IIRC there were 6 connections.

1. the (blue) harness connects to the back of the wheel

2. the connection to cruise control buttons to the left

3. the connection to the radio buttons on the right

4. the pink connection to the airbag

5. the white connection to the airbag

6. a pink connection for the horn

As for the picture posted up in the first page of the thread with the green connector, maybe it is for the heated steering wheel. My truck had no such plug. If the buttons are lit up then I think you should be good, maybe one of the pins on the connectors is bent or something.

I don't see why not, seems like that have the same parts. Take the airbag off and have a look for yourself, post back what you find.

Ok well I triple checked again and all connections are securely fastened. Also made sure all pins were not bend aswell. I dont want to have to take to the dealer and have them look at it. Someone else must have a suggestion.

For one, the same steering wheel, then if it is check the harness connections. There are a few pics in the thread.

Sorry but that is all I've came up with, mine was truly plug n play. Good luck at the dealer, they should pinpoint the problem.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking my only way out was going to be. I have a feeling it is going to be a missing wire from the steering wheel connector to the stereo, but that is just my guess. I hope it is not that something much easier. Thanks again for the response and suggestions.
