Where did you get the SIR coil from and what exactly is that? Do you have pics. of it?

Can anyone chime in on this to help a rookie out? :)

Thanks for the Compliments on the Truck!

The SIR Coil goes in the steering column...basically it is what keeps you Airbag/Steering Wheel/Cruise Controls all working even when you have the wheel turned....basically the wires run up to it....then are run into this Coil which serves as a constant contact for all of the wires while you turn the wheel....basically it keeps everything connected without twisting a bunch of wires in your steering column.

I got my SIR Coil for the dealership....just look up an 07 Sierra Denali with a Heated Steering Wheel and present that to the Parts Department. Get the wheel from Ebay or Nordstroms...they would be the cheapest!

This isn't a huge deal to install, you will need to remove the Air Bag which isn't a big deal at all, given that you disconnect the battery...then you'll need to remove the steering column shrouds and the knee bolster and then you'll have all the room you need to work!

Got any questions just let me know...you might want to PM me as I have been in and out the last few days...sorry I didn't post back sooner!

Does anyone know if the heated steering wheel would work if I put one of those in? How exactly do you turn the heater on anyway?

Yes, you can add the heated steering wheel from the Denali. I purchased one to match my interior which is Ebony from Nordstroms for about $200 and then I had to purchase the SIR Coil from a Denali Truck which has the wiring provisions for the Heated Wheel....that SIR Coil is around $80 bucks or so....You'll just need to install the New Coil and Wheel and run a power and ground from the heated steering wheel plug on the SIR Coil. I have it and its worked great for about 6 months now.

You, Sir, are a bad man. Truck is looking great!

Thanks Man....I bet your saying it would probably look better with those 4x4 stickers removed though!! :)

I found this listing on ebay:

My hesitation is in the color of the bezel inner wheel... it looks more gold/champagne than the silver one in my silvy...

Thoughts?

I'd bet it's the silver but just a shitty picture. I picked min up for $99 bucks so they can be found cheaper. You can also swap the bezel with the one on your truck now should there be a problem with the color.

Under 3 minutes... you're like a cheetah...

Thanks man. Considering the lower price than GMPartsDirect and the less expensive shipping, I think I'm going to pick it up. I'll save the next cheaper one for someone else itching for the upgrade.

Appreciate ALL of your help.

I actually fixed my statement. I can't guarantee it's silver but I haven't seen any other color than black or silver. Good luck, it's well worth the effort.

No big deal if I can change the bezel anyway.

Now on to getting that bumper painted... LTZ here I come! (for under $300).

The bezel just pulls off from the front. I just went and pulled my old one off to double check.

Hey Daddy what the name of those rims you have on your truck?

If only there were some sort of place like a signature to put that info! Kidding, check my signature for the info and the link.

Welcome to the site, you obviously have nice taste, :)
