2008 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500 Regular Cab Long Bed

So my driveway is at a slight incline.

The hood. I just noticed that water (and ice) pools on indentation on hood. Over time, what will happen to hood? I mean over a long time/period.

Whose bright idea was this?

Love the truck, though. Best thing to come along since sliced rye (dark) bread! The truck, I mean, not the hood.

It's not a Tundra your talking about. :( It will be fine. Water lays in the roof groves on my Ext cab to.

The hood will start rusting, that's what. It's only a matter of time. The paint on these trucks is really thin.

I would back up the truck into the driveway so that the water would run off the hood.

What?

You didn't get your little package of goldfish?

Why... I'd go back to the dealer and complain! :(

Drill a 1/2" hole for drainage :)

:( But seriously, as long as you wax it regularly and there are not large chips or areas where bare metal is exposed it won't rust

Could it be aluminum??? My 99 GMT800 has an aluminum hood.

It doesn't really matter, as others have said, as long as you have good paint on it and take care of it you'll be fine. It would still bother me that it collects there so I'd probably park it facing the the way, if that is possible.

Same happens to my truck with water and ice, it can collect at times, just keep it waxed and you should be fine.....

I find it really annoying, I keep getting splashes on the windshield in the mornings after it had been raining or excessive condensation...Really dumb design.

If you're talking about the rain running off the front of the hood and then blowing back on the windshield when braking, I too find this annoying and an unsafe surprise as I approach the vehicle in front of me and am adjusting my brake pedal pressure as I attempt to fine-tune my deceleration rate. I had not planned to purchase a hood deflector but may end up doing so to channel hood runoff to correct this design flaw. :(

Boy you too huh Fred??? I thought it was just me noticing this! Haha I remember the first time I stopped a little quick when it was raining and I saw all the water splash back. I was sitting there thinking, "What the hell was that?"

I don't want to thread hijack here, but on a somewhat related note has anyone noticed that their engine bay is getting unusually dirty? Mine is filthy, and it appears as though the grime is entering between the hood and the top of the grill. The components for my HID lights, not to mention everything else, was getting soaked with winter slop. It got so bad that I became concerned with the amount of salt getting in, so I took some weatherstripping and put it on the top of the plastic shroud that runs the length of the front of the truck and covers the radiator. This doesn't seem to be causing any heat problems, and it's doing a pretty good job of keeping the engine cleaner.
