What's This Doohicky?

There is a device under the passenger side rear seat of my 01 2500 crew cab that looks like it might be hydraulic. It's somewhat cylindrical with a red knob that says up and down. What is this thing?

Probably the jack for spare tire situations.

Do you have electric seats ? Could be the motor to raise/lower the seat.

That's exactly where my 1999 1500 Sierra's jack was... it's in a little "mount" of sorts, have to loosen it (or turn in the "down" direction) to get it out.

Its your jack! then towards the middle of the cab is the tire iron and shafts for cranking down the spare. They are in a vinyl wrap.
