Lets Talk Vent Visors

I seen a red NNBS silveraldo crew cab yesterday with with side vent visors that were "low" profile and color matched to the truck and I thought they looked awsome. I want some, where do I get them? What brand is good? Do I have to have them painted or can I buy them already color matched?

Any thoughts between the in-channel and the stick-on mounting types?

I don't own any yet... I do plan on getting some in channel weather techs. why those? no tape is need for application and their low profile look.. the WTs are 100$ for all 4. IMO the in channels are a lot better then the taped on one.. the cheaper tape on ones look bad, from the rear it looks like u got hippo ears pokin out your windows, and u don't wanna put taped on crap on ur truck... I like the ones on alaskas a lot.

I have had the WeatherTechs on my last 2 vehicles. They are very good. I only had a problem once... one visor kept falling off when my kids opened that one back window. The visors do have a thin sticky film tape on the part that goes into the window channel to help keep them in place. I called WeatherTech and they sent me a small roll of the tape so I could fix it myself.

I know mine is an older NBS but I have the ones that are "stick on" and I've had them on for 6 years with no issues. I had the in-channel ones for my wife's 99 4Runner and they sucked. They would not stay in place so I replaced them with "stick on" visors as well... problem solved. :)

I have egr in-visor shades. NO issues to date. I love them. I think they look sleeker than the stick-ons (i've had both over the years in different vehicles). I must say I like these the best.

If I recall, they were less than $100 installed, but not sure anymore.

Do these serve any useful purpose other than being a fashion accessory? The ones on Grumpy's truck are slick.

I like them because I can crack the windows when it's raining and not get water inside, or when I park, I can leave them cracked and not have to worry about rain. Not sure the purpose of the ones on the back windows of my truck are, but they were there when I bought it, and I don't feel like taking them off.

I agree w/ gator i have had both . I had problems w/ the in channel they didnt stick very well and when you rolled the window up it was very tight fitting ,,was poping when fully closed i didnt want to knock the pane off track. As far as the outside tape , they didnt take away from the looks. The main reason i like the Vent visors ,its like DV2000 stated i like to roll down windows a little to let fresh air in ,and when rains i dont get wet lol

Thanks... I think they look better than the stick-ons too....

Just like the others have commented, I leave the windows cracked when parked at work in the summer, and it keeps the interior from becoming as hot as it would with the windows closed.

If it rains, then you get no water in the car, and it cools the car off quick during those mid-afternoon storms in the middle of the summer.

In the winter, I like them too, as I can keep the heat blasting the windshield and manage the inside temp with the windows cracked and nothing getting in. ( I don't like my car too hot in the winter either).

On the NBS, the rear windows roll DOWN, rather than pop OUT. Thus the rear ones are actually functional on this truck  .

On my previous trucks, the visors over the rear pop-out windows were, indeed, nothing more than window dressing. :D

Yes, in weather like I deal with all the time they are great. If you get in the truck, and you are wet, and it is cold you must open the windows to keep steam off them. The visors preven rain and snow from getting in. There are just those times when you need to open them, and keep the weather out.

As for the in-channel...NEVER AGAIN will I deal with those things!! Mine have never held, always fall off.

Go with the GM stick on.

I chose the "AutoVentShades" (now owned by Lund) in-channel. Very happy. I have the smoked and find that in addition to allowing heat to escape from my sun-baked parked truck, it shades the early/late Sun on commutes when sunshine seems to always shine just below the top of the driver's window in my eyes. Ebay: 4 pcs, $62 shipped.
