What A Dumb A$$

Outbacker

One of the guys who work for me was down at the docks, and some guy he knew offered him a large jerry can of gas as he would not need it since he was putting his boat on blocks for the winter. So this guy heads up to his piece of crap ford truck and dumps the whole jerry can in without checking for contamination. He then drove home and half way there, his crappy ford crapped out on the side of road. Apparently the jerry can was old fuel and was about 1/3 water. He had to get towed home ($120.00) and has since had to replace the starter (fried it trying to start the engine, $147.00), plus he broke a fuel line trying to get the fuel filter out (undetermined cost). He pulled the injectors and their associated fuel lines and is trying to get the water out of the fuel system fuel from his secondary fuel tank. He is replacing his plugs and oxygen sensors (3 of them at $75.00 a pop) for whatever reason, and he still has a primary fuel tank full of watery gas. He is thinking of drilling a hole in the tank, draining the crappy fuel and plugging the hole later. I recommended to drop the tank and get it cleaned out, but he looking for the fast and cheap way to get it done. That is why he took the jerry can as it was free gas. Well, it was before he spent close to $500 bones just to get the truck back to where it was before he added the bad shit to the tank. And the part that kills me, he is a Marine Engineer by trade. . I think someone missed their calling. Of course getting the ford was the first mistake.

What's sad is I have put gas that was about 4 years old in my old GMC (TBI), and it runs just fine on it...

Old gas (within reason) is fine...the issue was the "1/3 water" part.

No offense, but it sounds like he got what he deserved . . .

I would have taken the gas too, but I would have checked in the can first. Looked at it, smelled it, etc.

I don't really like Fords either, but this would have happened to a Chevy too . . .

Not Rigg's Chevy. His would have ran better and got 30 MPG with the gas/water mix. :D

Well duh. If making hydrogen from water in the bed is good, then putting the water directly in the cylinder is 49.653% more efficient.

It's SCIENCE!

Yep, with newer vehicles, bad gas and or water in the gas is a great big no no. A hard and expensive lesson to learn.
