Does Anybody Have A Royal Sierra?

I think its the GMC version of the chevy bonanza trim pack. Theyre probably as rare as the 454 GMC street coupes.

they had a lot of limited run packages like that. GMC STREET COUPE

I wonder how rare the current GMT900 Sierra All-Terrain will be by comparison... I know I have never once seen another one aside from mine around the area here....

my grandpa has a 1977 gmc royal sierra in pretty bad condition. it's a 3 speed auto, had a/c at one time, and has manual windows and locks. it's got the wood grain accent on the dash and badges on the fenders. it's brown with a tan center strip. it's got rust all over, and the transmission drinks fluid. it's hard to start and the transmission doesn't like to shift. that said, it's still plated and he uses it to haul loads of dirt and manure to his farm. i had no idea it was so rare until i tried to search it. no results came up except this, where i come to find out that only 500 were made!

I have a 79 Royal Sierra. Manual windows, A/C, cruise, clock, heavy duty package. 350/350.

I didn't know these were rare. Mine has all the badging intact. She has some mild sheetmetal damage but no rust so I am going to start stripping her down and redoing her. She is just my beat around truck but I planned on keeping her for a while.

I have a 79 GMC Royal Sierra. I just found this site after googling "royal sierra".

Mine is a "Heavy Half" with 350/350, air, windows, and locks, tilt wheel, curise. I've had it since 1993.

Also offered were several Chevy Bonanza/GMC Royal Sierra option groups. They were special year-end promotional packages (analogous to Ford's old "white sale" Explorer pickup packages) with special discounted price groupings of popular appearance/convenience options. Prior to the 1980 model year, the Bonanza/Royal Sierra packages were based on the Z62 trim level with the addition of floor carpeting; after that time, the packages offered a choice of Z84 or YE9 interiors. In later years, Canadian customers wer offered similarly conceived "Wrangler" packages. The Wrangler packages included some very distinctive and exclusive paint/decal features; really neat collector's items!

The Bonanza/Royal Sierra/Sequoia models offered essentially nothing other than a grouping of regular production options priced at a discount, and- -from '76 to '79- -substitution of appropriate nameplates in place of the "Scottsdale/Sierra Grande" plates found on equivalently trimmed standard issue pickups.

So basically the same as the current Nevada\Cheyenne editions. Note that rare does not always mean desireable. You could get a 67 Camaro with bench seat and column shift, it is rare simply because it was not desireable.

my truck came with wood grain finish, even my whole cluster unit is wood grain. And sierra is embroidered in to my door. ive never seen a 98 or at least my style of truck come with that
