Exterior Door Trim Coming Loose

Mine did the same thing. They loosened near the front. They also seemed to retain dirt, I had to really scrub them to get them clean. Almost like the dirt soaked in.

I just took them off as I like the look better now anyway. Just cheap molding applied cheaply.

Trim came loose in 2012 on my '09 Silverado and they fixed it no charge the first time. (It had JUST came out of warranty) It has now come loose again and the dealer wants over $200.00 to fix it again.

How much extra does it cost to get it fixed so it says that way?

Get the 3M double sided tape at your local auto parts store. Remove all of the original tape from the door and molding. Rub everything down with rubbing alcohol. Let dry. Apply new 3M tape to molding. Carefully apply molding to door, and apply pressure to it to seat the tape. It should last several years. This needs to be done in a relative warm garage or area.

When I bought my truck, one of mine had a scratch in it, down to where you could see the black plastic. They replaced it since it was brand new.

None of mine have come loose or fell off yet, but what I am worried about is since my truck is white, I have seen those moldings turning orange. YUCK!

They say you have to wax them to keep them from fading.

I know they are cheap plastic, but I think it does seem to make the truck look a little better with them on and the chrome trim on the top.

I wax mine regularly (summit white) and they are still turning off white color slowly but surely. Truck is kept garaged so I'm sure it could be much worse from constant sun.
