I have this summer mini project of getting the truck nice & neat.. something about getting the interior upgraded.. sort of

Where can I find good deals on new Nav systems for my truck? and will there be any bluetooth connectivity? I heard 09 trucks are equipped with bluetooth which is a nice addition

Once I have a good deal I'm planning to go for rear cam + lockpick

I read some neat threads here, & just can't find where to place my orders :withstupid: any ideas guys?

ebay.com

post a thread in the wanted and for sale forum...you might find someone with a nav unit they are trying to sell.

craigslist.com

that is where I would start to search...you should find something out there..

Be sure to get the correct part number. I have read that there are different units for different systems depending on your truck options. I am not sure of the part numbers myself, but maybe someone else can chime in and let us know.

Bluetooth connectivity goes through the new Onstar module for '09. Not sure if you want to go through all of that trouble or not. I'd personally just get an aftermarket BT option such as a Parrot, especially since you'll have a lockpick.

FYI i think you would also have to add an amp. i'm pretty sure the OEM nav units do NOT have a built-in amp, like the standard units do. take some time and look into this though, i'm not 100% certain.

Not true. All you need to add when upgrading to OEM NAV is the headunit, GPS antenna, and VSS wire/VCIM wire. Everything is essentially just plug-and-play.

There are no differences that I am aware of between the '09 NAV unit and '08 units. I put an '09 NAV in my '08 and it works just the same as any other '08. Now I'm just trying to track down an '09 VCIM with bluetooth so I can upgrade to Gen-8 OnStar.

As far as I'm aware, most if not all of the part numbers are actually the same Denso part; just given different numbers in GM's system to correspond to different vehicle models or brand divisions. The only things you really have to look out for are Bose/Non-Bose, and if you have the Y91 (lux amp).

DO however be careful -- some of the units you'll find on ebay for the Lambda CUVs look the same as the T900 in terms of the face plate and controls, but are manufactured by Delphi. These are NOT compatible with our trucks; only the Denso units will interface with the T900's GMLAN.

He will have to add an amp if he does not already have the system that includes the amp under the center console. The Nav/DVD units do not have a built-in amp to power the speakers from what I understand.

If it were me, I'd go with an after market solution for everything. Get a nice HU with all of the adapters and such and have Bluetooth, backup cam, XM and everything else in a much nicer unit!

...and probably much less expensive, too.

i'm assuming the OP is upgrading from a non-nav head unit to a nav head unit.

honestly I looked in the market and found some v.good specs for the $$$.. found a Kenwood 7000 (or 8000 cant remmber). but all of those units interface look ugly compared to the neat GM one.. So unless I find somthing better in the market, I'll stick to the OEM :D
