I am heading to a race on Sunday. I have never been to one. To be honest, they really don't do anything for me. Anyway, I got 8 free tickets through the Army (Thanks Dad) and myself and 7 friends are going. A few have been and say its a blast, mainly due to the partying. I guess all I want to know from some of you race fans is; will I have fun? A few people said we should get there EARLY, like 6AM early. We are all riding down on our bikes so I'm thinking parking won't be bad. Just want to get a feel for it or know what to expect. Thanks!

Whether you like NASCAR or not... going to their races is a blast. Any car nut will enjoy all of the power and action. I've been to a few and they were all a load of fun weekend trip..

Yes....Get there early!! That'll give you a chance to walk around and take in all the sites, and visit the numerous displays/tents/drivers trailers/etc.

I've been going to NASCAR races since '94 and still enjoy going very much (Even though it still ain't the same without Dale Earnhardt)

My group always gets there early,We cook out and tailgate, walk around to visit the displays, and just relax and "chill out"

Definately get there early. We used to get there on Thursday and stay the whole weekend. There is so much stuff to do, and the womenz are every where. If this is your first race, you'll want to go to more after it's over. Have fun.

Well, the day started out bad. We left my buddies house at about 7:30. His wife took FORRRRRRREVERRRRR to get ready. No problem, we were only 9 miles away from the track. When we took off, it was drizzling. I checked the weather and they called for sunshine so off we went. We were all riding our bikes. 3 seconds after we get on the highway, DOWN POUR. We are immediately soaked. A couple of my friends have full dressers so they had no problems riding through. My friend Marc and I...not so much. The rain fuggin hurts at 50mph. I couldn't see out of my glasses, so I tried adjusting them and they broke. I had to hold them on my face with one hand while ride with the other. Anyway, we get there and immediately get nice parking spots by our gate. We find the closest tent and huddle under it. Its still pouring at this point...about 8:30am. By 9:30-10am, the clouds roll out and the sun is shining. We all start drying off and enjoying the day. Walked around/BS'd for hours, ate lunch, did some more walking around, then we decided to get to our seats. They did the race start stuff and then they were off. It was pretty cool, but like I said, I was never into the Nascar thing so I don't have a fav racer. That part sucked as I was just watching the cars go around not routing for a particular driver. Well, lap 200 comes around and I realized I was tired as hell, dozing off, and about an hour away from home. I didn't want to sit in any traffic so I decided to leave. My other friends stayed as they were a little more local then I and more into it. Now, I did have fun and I would probably go to another race, I was just sooooo fuggin tired. We partied a little the night before and got to bed late, then the rain/soaked/cold thing wore down on me. Next time I will be more prepared and ready to enjoy it a little more.

Thanks for the tips guys!
