Zone 1.5" Body Lift

Zone now offers rear bumper relocation brackets for about $50 to improve the look of the 1.5" body lift. I was looking at the kit before this was offered and now I'm considering it more seriously since the rear bumper issue is now mitigated. I have an '08 Sierra SLE Crew with a 2" RC leveling kit, and just haven't managed to get the ground clearance that I want yet. And, I'm not in a position to foot a $3000-$4000 suspension lift yet. So, it sounds logical to add this small body lift and 33" tires.

Let me know what your take is on this setup. If you have any pictures of this or something similar, please post them.

I think its a great kit for that little bit of extra lift/tire clearance. I am thinking about throwing one on my truck as well. I would go 3" but no steps to hide the frame.

I would honestly love to do this because at the current time, I am looking towards getting some adjustable height shocks and rear spring pack to get me another 1.5" in the front and 2" in the rear. This option would be wayyyyy cheaper, but the main problem is the bumpers.. IMO the kit looks like hell without the bumpers moved.

I also dont want to go 3" on the body lift because i hate the gaps and moreover the frame (I dont want steps and if I got steps I would want electric) I dont think u would notice the body lift nearly as much with only 1.5". It would also probably give me enough clearance to run 36" tires. (dont think I want 37s) But what about the front bumper? Its still going to hang down right? Rear is only half of the equation...

I hear you man. I am starting to gather parts and info to go higher as well. As far as I know the front bumper is OK. It was just the rear that stayed in the stock location. I wouldn't get any steps except for the electric amps either. Just takes away from the clean look.

I have that kit and love it. Very easy to install and doesn't show too much frame either. For the rear bumper I have the HD bumper pads so it covers the gap pretty good on a black truck but on a lighter color truck I would get the relocation brackets. The pictures in my sig. is the RC 2" kit and the 1.5" zone body lift. It is a great combination for a little lift and not spend alot of money.

The only issue i have with it... is that its just as much work to do the 3" kit, but you're only getting 1.5".

Even with 3", i dont think these GMT900 trucks are that bad body-lifted. I wanted to do steps anyways... but before the steps it still looked good IMO (still less frame than a stock 2500HD).

(If i was smart enough to tear the frame sticker off before taking this pic... it would look so much better but you get the point)

To the OP. Depending on the actual size of your 33s, and the wheels, you might want to do the 3" kit. My 305/55/20 Mickey Thompson ATZs on 20x9 wheels with +18mm offset was UNDRIVABLE with my 3" body lift. I had to trim quite a bit.... 4.5" of lift would've been peeeerfect for this setup (and im actually considering a spacer to bring my front up 1" in the future).

So with that said, if you already have a 2" leveling kit... go with a 3" body lift, it'll look awesome on 33s

PS: If you go with the 3" kit... DONT get the Zone BL, go with the BDS Kit (exactly the same but you get a better steering extension with BDS... better in terms of its actually worth the extra $30- i've been battling my Zone extension since day one)

IMO the 1.5 Zone BL was pretty easy and i think was easier then the 3" kits I did before. I know in my case if I went with the 3" kit I would not fit in my garage and I would have put 35" tires on and then would have to change gears to get my power back.

If I would of went with the 3" kit I would of went with BDS. But for $150 I could go wrong with the zone 1.5" kit.

Yea it comes out to 5.7" backspace... so they're not very wide, only 9", and they dont have a very aggressive backspace... near stock actually. Im sure my tires are larger than the average 33's, but the truck was literally undrivable and i had to put my stock sized tires back on to get home.

The reason I am asking is because I bought a set of 20x8.5 rims with 5.5" backspacing and going to run 275/60 tires. Now I see from your truck my truck will somewhat look like.

thanks but the only problem I have is the tires I am going to run for summer are goodyear HP's. Paid $30 for the set with 60-70% thread left.

What was your old american racing wheel backspacing and width.

They were 8.5" wide with +30mm offset (which works out to be 6" backspace)

I agree that it might be alot of work for only 1.5" of body lift, but that extra lift combined with the suspension lift will let me clear the next size up tire with no questions, and also wont look at all like i have a body lift!!

J-man67, you might as well go with a 3". Even without steps, these trucks don't show alot of frame. Besides, once that little bitty 1.5" body lift is on for a couple of months, you will start thinking about that extra 1.5" you are missing. Then you will see a truck a little bit higher than yours and you will kick yourself in a$$.
