2008 Silverado Power Door Lock Actuator Failed

I'm hoping this helps those who want a repaired OEM alternative. These guys are certified aircraft mechanics and will refurbish your lock if they don't have one in stock ready to ship. They will also sell you the new motor with the instructions to repair yourself. I am in no way related to this company. I simply ran across them looking for a solution to a highly ignored problem by GM. All my locks have been replaced at least once under warranty and now both driver side locks are toast again at 153,000 miles. I just purchased the Dorman 931-303 (driver front) and will buy the Dorman 931-304 (passenger front) soon from Amazon. This is disappointing considering I bought my 2008 Sierra knowing that the American people were about to bail this company out and now they don't stand behind their products. Here is the link I promised: http://www.gruvenparts.com/2008-2013-gm-door-lock-actuator-rebuild/

The cruise control and stabilitrak problems that people on here have been having, including myself, are another FAIL for GM...I have since resolved my problem for $10, but will have to do a full writeup with pics after I finish my MBA to fully explain the history of the problem and why its affecting so many trucks. In short, the brake light switch doesn't fully disengage and sets the stabilitrak code after driving 1 mile with an indication that the brakes are being applied. I have reproduced this problem many times with a brand new after market brake light switch from Oreilly. After several months of troubleshooting I compared the new part to the old factory part and realized the major flaw with the design. Long story short, I replaced the fairly new yet lightly used Oreilly brake light switch with an AC Delco from Amazon. No more problems with the cruise control and no more stupid stabilitrack/traction control issues. Why can't GM chime in on this? They should fix this to save some major face...

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra extended cabAll Terrain, at 85,000 mile my door lock has went on my driver side door. Is there anything GM can do for me here, I also been having problems with my dash gauge going haywire about 2 times a week. It seems like the 08 trucks have some major problems!

Just replaced both front actuators on my GMC 2009 Sierra 2500 HD part #'s 258768282 & 258768283. Couldn't be happier!

Had them repaired by http://www.gruvenpar...tuator-rebuild/ like the previous poster suggested. New replacement parts from GM still have the old motors in them so they would go eventually too. Figured it was worth the extra cost to get actuator motors re-built with something that would last. Also had local repair shop put them in and it was not $400 a door like GM wants! I now have the two replacement parts if someone wants me to ship them to gruvenparts for them !

Hey Silverado,

Let me understand this. You ordered new parts from GM, the new ones have the same motor in them that will fail after a short while, you have to install them , and then you will again have two doors that you have to manually open after they fail, and you think GM Customer care did you a favor and you thanked them?

markabogner, yes. I bought OEM GM parts for my Silverado through GM Customer Service supplied part numbers, and I did thank them. Thanks for following.

Looking for help PLEASE

I had actuators replaced by dealer in 2009 for my 2008 GMC Sierra1500

Now both rears are failing again. Called the dealer and they said the warranty period is over.

Pretty expensive to buy them from the dealer. Can anyone provide some help?

It seems that there is a problem with the 2008 models based on what Ive read here and other places.

Can GM help me out here? Thanks In advance for any help!

Big Carl, I bought my rears actuators from eBay. I did a lot of shopping around ahead of time and they had the lowest price for the complete units.

It was about $90 shipped for each one and I installed them myself.

Part numbers that were supplied to me for my 2008 Silverado Crew:

25876382 front side door lock "with actuator" (drivers side)
25876383 front side door lock "with actuator" (passenger side)
25876397 rear side door latch (includes the actuator) "drivers side"
25876398 rear side door latch (includes the actuator) "passenger side"

Hope this helps.
