P71_CrownVic Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 Yep...it is great news...right when analysts are suggesting Ford will need another debt-for-equity swap to keep out of 'trouble'. LINKY!
WilliamBos Posted July 11, 2009 Posted July 11, 2009 So they are not as well off as they are making us believe??
fbachman Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 So they are not as well off as they are making us believe?? Well, whether by smart business or blind, dumb, luck, Ford leveraged everything including their skivvies right before the crash. SO, when it all came crashing down, THEY were sitting on a wad of ca$h. Now, everyone agreed from the beginning that if the slide lasted until the end of this year, Ford would need an infusion as well. At the beginning of this, however, they didn't need an immediate boost. Jury is still out. Ford went "all in" with the new F150. It it suceeds, so do they. If it doesn't, they won't either. The last projections I saw indicated that if FS truck sales didn't recover significantly by Q4, Ford will be in the same crapper GM and Chrysler are in, albeit 8-12 mos later.
P71_CrownVic Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 So they are not as well off as they are making us believe?? No...it's like saying you are the healthiest person around because you ONLY have AIDS, Swine Flu, SARS, and a rash you just can't seem to shake. Jury is still out. Ford went "all in" with the new F150. It it suceeds, so do they. If it doesn't, they won't either. And last month, the Silverado 1500 outsold the F-150...by ~12,000 units.

Speaking of diseases, what does GM have to do to get rid of Bob Putz?
Zembonez Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 Absolutely excellent news for GM. I know this doesn't make it all better but it is one decent step toward getting over the hump! I hope it continues!

I didn't realize the disparity was that large....The new F150 leaves ME cold... it may be a good truck... I sure don't know. I am happier than a pig in slop with my Sierra.
P71_CrownVic Posted July 13, 2009 Posted July 13, 2009 Speaking of diseases, what does GM have to do to get rid of Bob Putz? Huh? Lutz is the reason the G8 is going to become a Chevrolet. Lutz is a God. I am happier than a pig in slop with my Sierra. That's because you made the right purchase for the better truck.
ocean4200 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Great news! I'm glade that my Silverado 1500 purchase contributed to get GM back on track! GM sales went UP for now 2 months... +20% in sales!
