Throttle Body Spacers?

Recommended Posts

I have a 2008 GMC Sierra Denali with the 6.2L and MBRP exhaust. I was talking to my mechanic at the dealership today and he recommended putting a cold air intake and throttle body spacer to wake my truck up. I think I am going to purchase the Volant cold air intake kit but have not heard much about throttle body spacers. Has anyone ever used them and are they worth it?

Never used one myself but as you'll see on this forum....most think spacers are worthless.

CAI is okay, but if you want to "wake your truck up", get a Blackbear custom tune from Justin....my oh my!!

A mechanic told you to get a TBS?? I would find a new mechanic!

+1

Atleast don't use him for anything other than an oil change.

I don't even know about the oil change. He is just trying to get some more money out of you for a part that does nothing for you. Volant is a good intake I have one and I recommend the powercore I didn't get it but wish I did.

If I see one more oil change or TBS or exhaust thread im gonna rip my eyes out...jesus christ, what the hell is wrong with people now a days. What scares the shit out of me is this "mechanic" works at a dealership.

Throttle-body spacers make good paper weights for anyone with port injection, It works only on TBI systems. Find a new mechanic he's just selling you stuff you don't need.

Your truck already has a cold air intake from the factory. Look at the air cleaner box and see where the air comes in. Most of the CAI systems I've seen simply add polished metal and remove the noise attenuator in the connecting duct from the filter box to the throttle body, giving the buyer the illusion of performance increase by increasing the noise from under the hood. Some "CAI" systems actually let more underhood hot air into the intake than the factory system. But virtually all of the aftermarket systems "look cool" and will definitely do at least one thing: separate you from some money.

Throttle body spacers are a joke...on the buyer.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
