My latest Covid project was refreshing my old utility trailer. It was disintegrating next to our driveway for the past few years and was a common source of jabs from my lovely bride. In early spring I removed the wood parts so it would quit shedding. This only exacerbated the ugliness. I had no place out of sight to store this treasure. The writing was on the wall that it needed to be re-done or scrapped. I couldn't do the latter as too many memories are attached. So I went over every square inch and followed the Radio Flyer theme that my wife and I decided on last time it was re-done. (2003) This previous refresh was done to look pretty but my heavy work schedule and and active life style resulted in too many shortcuts. This year I had the time to finish it properly. It was not planned but it was spring of '71 (50 yrs.) when I first refreshed the green Tremclad paint job on this same trailer! I did add some aluminum in vulnerable areas and replaced the 13" trailer wheels with 15". The trailer originally had old car spindles and wheels which accounts for the extra large fenders. The 15's fill the space much better than the 13's, imo.3 points

Us 22" wheel guys are so limited with all-terrain tire choices. I really want to get the Terra Grappler G2s but they are just absurd at nearly 400 bucks a tire. I don't think I can justify that much. Well Cooper just dropped a new all terrain oem sized 285/45/22. The Discoverer Rugged Trek. They are $293/tire at discount tire. Look very similar to Duratracs. I know Goodyear now owns Cooper so that may have some influence on the design. I think I may have finally found a good balance of price and looks for my next set. They look badass. I just wish they made 285/50 too1 point

My truck never ran better (wot) then when it was all stock except for a corsa catback. That is until Gm's updated tune, which was supposed to fix transmission shifting harshness took the life out of it. Since then its been tuned and has Kooks headers. These headers are great low-mid rpm, especially when it's running hot. They pull alright at high rpm/high speed too, but it low-mid where they shine. imo if you want to be quick, get a blower and call it a day. If you want people to hear you, get full exhaust. And if your made of money... stroked lt1/l86, twin turbo, upgraded driveline...1 point

@Raven Z71I’m in TX now. Sure miss the mountains though not the winters haha. @MikeBMW I ended up buying the wheels off a guy that removed them from his 2019 Silverado then I got them installed at Discount Tire. I should’ve made the smart move to have the dealership install them.1 point

I've had none of those issues either, and I just had mine returned for a failed USB problem, but they never gave me a hard time about my wheels.1 point

I've used this for 30 years on many, many things, can't live without it. Once you you use the heat and peel method, there will likely be an "outline" of the letter. The 3M adhesive remover will cut that right off. Our family has nick named it The Secret Sauce!1 point

i just removed then reinstalled the light sensor and was able to actuate the lights automatically. I just removed the “bad” right side turn LED and socket and tried it in the left side and it worked. I believe I have checked all the fuses and am know trying to find the modules or relays… I1 point

3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner. Available at Ace Hardware and Home Depot. Very mild but stays "wet" and soaks into adhesive residue. Make sure the truck is cool and out of the sun no matter what you use then wash thoroughly and wax when you are done. I've seen Goo-Gone eat plastic and ruin painted surfaces. If I use it at all it's on bare metal or glass and even then I prefer the 3M Adhesive Remover. The 3M is safe on Gel-Coat and plexiglass too.1 point

There is codes most likely. You need a good reader like a BlueDriver that can pull codes across the whole vehicle and not just the ECM. You'll probably find a C1114 or something along the lines. Probably a bad trailer brake control switch, bad trailer plug or bad trailer brake control module.1 point

Yes, sadly what you have found is true. GM/OnStar is missing the boat on this one. I suspect if they offered the services at a MUCH better price point they would pick up a lot of subscribers. Instead they choose to gouge those who buy the services. The services included in the purchase of the vehicle are really pretty useless with the possible exception of the vehicle diagnostics. I have SiriusXM in 3 vehicles. Why? because they let me negotiate the price down to $5 a month per vehicle. I wouldn't even consider it at the regular $14.99 a month but at $5, I'm in (I live is a small town with few FM choices). If OnStar offered the "Essentials" for $10 a month, instead of $40, I'd have that in 3 vehicles too. They would be making $30 a month off me instead of the $0 they are making now. I probably still would only use it rarely but I would buy it as a type of insurance. Phone apps cover many of the services provided by OnStar for free and you can access the 5 years free GM road service via the GM customer service number. Put the GM number on speed dial and it's as easy as pushing the OnStar button for road service. I found during my free OnStar trail periods the only thing I used was the remote entry/start from the phone app (mostly as a novelty, not a necessity). $180 a year so I can basically unlock/start my vehicle from my phone is pretty steep, IMHO. If you read the threads on OnStar services, you'll see many, if not most, people don't feel it passes the cost-vs-benefit analysis. JMHO No expertise implied or expressed1 point

with auto temp control it will only cool down to 42, on trucks with manual controls you can get it down to 38, and that is only if the system is running perfect1 point

That's terrible... I think the Silverado and GM trucks look good. Apparently others do as well being the best selling pickup. Tundra? Not my cup of tea. Last gen looked like a bullfrog on steroids and the front of these look like a big catfish mouth. Horrible. To each his own though.1 point

They are still E-Core design but E core 2nd gen, they dropped the E on the label on the latest new package filters. My boxes of bulk ones at work say "Product of USA" on it. You can use 12707246 for individual boxed, 19419333 box of 6 or 19419227 for a bulk pack of 12. Dealers 99% stock the 19419227 bulk packs so if you got one filter it would be just loose no box. Here's the new labels on the filters:1 point

I stated this a few years ago. I took my 97 C/K and sat it next to a Colorado ZR2 and the midsize truck was about same size as the full-size. It’s crazy how large they are getting. I was detailing a few new trucks this past week and they take a bit of work to detail now. Lol1 point

Given there are a number of production codes GM assigns to a vehicle as it goes through the ordering and production process, either your sales guy is very, very lazy, and doesn't care about even making a pretense of keeping you happy, or they are just shining you on and they don't have allocation anytime soon, and don't want to admit to you that it likely will be some time before you get the truck, or if you will get it (as GM may switch to 2022's before then)...1 point

With used truck prices so high right now, ask them how much they would buy it from you for. May be cheaper just to unload it.1 point

On my 2015 and on my 2018, all four were express down and only the driver's window was express up.1 point

There’s some vehicles, started with the mustang. The first one I remember. That gave you a choice regular or premium gas. Premium providing more horsepower. No damage using one or the other. I guess GM hasn’t figured out how to do that yet. Of course I did have a GM the would give more horsepower on E-85. So it boggles the mind that you couldn’t run reg gas in the 6.2. I wonder. The mustang was a turbo 4. It was pretty slick.1 point

Well.......that simple question certainly got out of hand. After reviewing all of the responses, I have decided to use the 93 octane. Thanks for all the input.1 point

Maybe next week someone will spend $3000 extra on a Trail Boss and then ask about lowering it 2” to increase MPG.1 point

I have towed before just not for a while. As a teen, I've backed up and towed the boat. In the military we have hauled big generators and such around even had training days where we went into the woods to turn them around on dirt trails lol. I am by far no expert and I am sure I am rusty but Its not that I have never done it. I think the last time I ever towed anything was my car behind a Uhaul from FL to TX.1 point

So I couldn’t find this ****** anywhere. Eventually matched up the pins on the connector to the 14-15 and that is the solid yellow and black/yellow wire in pin 1&5. Got signal and is working perfectly fine just so people can stop pulling their hair out trying to find the right wires1 point

All it takes is one not so light wind to ruin your day. You must live somewhere where the wind doesn’t blow and there are no mountains cuz I guarantee if you lived in the western half of the continent you would change your tune in a hurry. I too have owned a few half tons. I would NEVER tell anyone that tows anything over 5000lbs especially an rv that it tows as good as a bigger heavier truck. That’s the worst lie I’ve ever heard.1 point

No issues here. I used a piece of angle iron across the whole lip of the tailgate at first.... but quickly gave up. The multi pro takes the weight fine.1 point
