  1. Today's vehicles, the key just sends a signal to the computer, same as what the 'start' button does. Just 'bump' the key and let it do it's thing. That said, I'm a fan of key start and column shift. Keyless makes it easy to get out and leave one running, or drive away after dropping someone off and the fob is in possession of the other person, or...
  2. I'm curious what you find out! If the receiver module and/or programming is omitted without the PTT option it will certainly be disappointing if this can't be upgraded after build.
  3. According to the order guide: 2020 2500 Denali: U1D In-vehicle Trailering App, System, includes checklist, trailer maintenance reminders, trailer security alerts, trailer mileage, tow/haul reminder, trailer electrical diagnostics and Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor System module SLE - Included and only available with (ZL6) ProGrade Trailering System or with (PDQ) Preferred Package. Includes trailer tire pressure monitoring alert ONLY when (PTT) trailer tire pressure monitor system is factory ordered and sensors are installed SLT - Includes trailer tire pressure monitoring alert ONLY when (PTT) trailer tire pressure monitor system is factory ordered and sensors are installed. With (ZW9) pickup bed delete no provision for a trailer tire pressure monitor system will exist but all the other (U1D) features will remain. AT4 and Denall - Includes trailer tire pressure monitoring alert ONLY when (PTT) trailer tire pressure monitor system is factory ordered and sensors are installed Base sierra -- not available PTT Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors, includes set of 4 sensors. Sensor functionality requires (U1D) In-vehicle Trailering App to be ordered with the vehicle and installed by the factory. Sensors will be shipped loose with the truck and will need to be installed on trailer by customer. System is capable of monitoring up to 6 wheels. Additional or replacement sensors are available through GM Accessories SLE - Requires (ZL6) ProGrade Trailering System or (PDQ) Preferred Package. Not available with (ZW9) pickup bed delete. SLT - Not available with (ZW9) pickup bed delete. Optional, but no restrictions on AT4 and Denali Base sierra - not available. Seems like trailer tire monitoring may not work if PTT sensors weren't factory ordered.
  4. Have you restarted the phone recently? Seems to solve a lot of CP issues being reported on other forums.
  5. I owned a 15 6.2 3.23 and then a 16 5.3 NHT (so not the DFM's available today) Mileage was very similar, doing the same job. With both I was disappointed when a hand-calc tank average was less than 20 usmpg. Of course if the usage for a tankful was a different blend of city / rural 2 lane / freeway / towing then the average would change.
  6. Condition of the battery and charging system is one of the things auto start/stop monitors to decide if it will cause a stop. Camera left drawing juice when truck off may have resulted in battery charge lower than computer thinks is necessary for stop/start to function. Auto Stops may not occur and/or Auto Starts may occur because: . The climate control settings require the engine to be running to cool or heat the vehicle interior. . The vehicle battery charge is low. . The vehicle battery has recently been disconnected. . Minimum vehicle speed has not been reached since the last Auto Stop. . The accelerator pedal is pressed. . The engine or transmission is not at the required operating temperature. . The outside temperature is not in the required operating range. . The vehicle is in any gear other than D (Drive). . Tow/Haul Mode or other driver modes have been selected. . The vehicle is on a steep hill or grade. . The driver door has been opened or the driver seat belt has been unbuckled. . The hood has been opened. . The Auto Stop has reached the maximum allowed time.
  7. In the dually, only the reg cab has the 28. Crew dually and double dually get the 36. Perhaps because the def tank how has to live by the fuel tank, since it isn't under the passenger door anymore. Fuel tank size seems to be impacted by both cab length and box length as well as presence of def tank. Perhaps someone at GM likely figured out that most long distance duallys ran with either double or crew cab -- and both of those have 36 gallon? Highest tow capacity is the reg cab dually -- are they used more for 'local' work with infrequent longer trips? I'm sure there are some that will want to have reg cab and tow long distances that will add additional fuel capacity -- but some would do that even if they were all 36 gallon (or more).
  8. Rotella T5 and Rotella T5 Ultra are semi-synthetics T6 is full synthetic https://rotella.shell.com/en_ca/products/full-synthetic-and-blend-oil.html The is also Rotella conventional and they have a Rotella version for gasoline engines.
  9. When DEF use began with the 6.6L LML Duramax, GM published a document indicating that DEF consumption should be (IIRC) about 1.75% of fuel -- so a little less than 2 gal def per 100 gal fuel. I haven't seen or heard of a similar document for the 3.0L. I'm running 1100-1200 miles per gallon of def with this 6.6L (rarely tow with it) What's fuel cost at the locations charging $4/gal for DEF?.
  10. Reduced body roll and reduced frame flex are included in the reasons I went back to a 2500. When running unloaded (which is most of the time) I also run cold pressures in the 50 - 55 range, depending on my mood. (it has the optional 18's, instead of the standard 20's, door sticker is 60F/70R)
  11. On 2019 3500 Denali, Hill descent is 'included and only available with' Z71, and Z71 is optional. And, Z71 is also not available with dual wheels. SRW Denali's that have Z71 added, do not get the Z71 front emblem. On 2020 3500 Denali JHD (Hill Descent) it is standard on SRW and not available with DRW
  12. FWIW, HDC (Hill Descent Control) will only work between 1 and 14 mph. Should be able to set cruise at 25 mph or above. Of course touching the brakes disengages cruise. Not sure why you are finding you need to be at 40 mph to set it. Are you also using tow/haul mode? It makes the exhaust brake more aggressive. Are you leaving the transmission in auto? Using manual mode prevents the exhaust brake from performing automatic downshifts to help maintain speed (but, of course in manual you can downshift it) Exhaust brake only works when the torque converter is locked. GM says lockup varies with speed, load and gear.
  13. 3.0L engine is built in a plant in Flint. (Flint Engine Operations ).
  14. Not something to get used to. At 400 miles, get it to a dealer and make use of the warranty you paid for. There are 100's (or 1000's) of things that could be the cause for the light. Typically, much easier to find with some service training and with use of a diagnostic computer to help track it down.
  15. Good point ho Good point. They can run high idle at startup, sorta like automatic choke on an old gasser. And they can run higher for a reason like electical load, coolant temp and so on. They also will run higher shift points when cold. My response was interpreting the op's description as never returning to a low idle once fully warmed to normal.
  16. It'll take a change to the federal regs first. (not sure if it's been finalized yet, but it has been in process for a bunch of years) Apparently, the intent is to reduce the number that are killed by leaving one running in an attached garage.
  17. Aftermarket floor mats? Position sensor for skinny pedal loose or out of adjustment? I'm not buying dealers 800 rpm soy either. On the diesel sites lots have reported having the recall done -- no one has reported an increase in idle speed.
  18. Another music storage solution. Lexar S47 series. Only the small black portion will stick out from the usb slot, so less likely to catch something on it and cause damage. Also available in 32 and 128GB capacities.
  19. Were you talking to a sales person or the parts department? https://accessories.chevrolet.com/search?year=2020&make=Chevrolet&model=Silverado 2500 HD&modelId=494&body=Crew Cab Pickup&bodyId=22&wheelId=349&trim=High Country&trimId=523&drive=4WD&driveId=8&engine=6.6L V8 DIESEL&engineId=17460&bodyNumDoors=5&categoryId=12002
  20. You've read been given a lot of bad information. 12 deg F (-11 deg C) A 32.5% solution of DEF will begin to crystallize and freeze at 12 deg F (-11 deg C). At 32.5%, both the urea and water will freeze at the same rate, ensuring that as it thaws, the fluid does not become diluted, or over concentrated. The freezing and unthawing of DEF will not cause degradation of the product. DEF is made at the 32.5% ratio specifically because at that ratio it does not salt out (unlike other ratios of water and urea) so doesn't degrade due to freeze thaw. Since nobody makes DEF that isn't made to the ISO spec.....
  21. Sensors require that the truck that the U1D option to function, but are not included with U1D. PTT Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor Sensors, includes set of 4 sensors. Sensor functionality requires (U1D) In-vehicle Trailering App to be ordered with the vehicle and installed by the factory. Sensors will be shipped loose with the truck and will need to be installed on trailer by customer. System is capable of monitoring up to 6 wheels. Additional or replacement sensors are available through GM Accessories U1D In-vehicle Trailering App, System, includes checklist, trailer maintenance reminders, trailer security alerts, trailer mileage, tow/haul reminder, trailer electrical diagnostics and Trailer Tire Pressure Monitor System module Includes trailer tire pressure monitoring alert ONLY when (PTT) trailer tire pressure monitor system is factory ordered and sensors are installed
  22. Probably a typo. It's the DPF (diesel particulate filter) that requires regeneration. Extra fuel injected to heat the filter and burn out the soot. On new vehicles it is common for the first few regenerations to have the created in the exhaust cause burnoff of material on the outside of the exhaust. DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) is used in a chemical reaction to reduce the NOx in the exhaust. NOx is generated whenever a diesel is running -- so DEF is injected whenever it is running. The amount of DEF will be proportional to the amount of fuel. When the engine is working hard and using more fuel, it will also be using more DEF. If it still stinks (or worse smokes) after the first few regenerations then it likely is in need of repair.
  23. Let us know what they find.
  24. Thanks. Much better wording of the explanation than mine.
