09 Creaking Sound

Recommended Posts

I have an 09 CC and when I make turns (not even sharp ones) or go over bumps, I can hear and feel my floor creaking under my feet. It started on the front driver side, but now seems to be "spreading" to the other corners or my cab. I recently installed side steps but I'm 99% positive the creaking predates that install. Anybody have any suggestions that I can try myself before I bring it in?

This sounds like the exact same issue I had on my truck. You need to get some silicon lube and a rag and go over every piece if weather stripping around the doors - especially the the top piece running along the roof. I know you said it sounds like it's coming from the floor area but that is what mine sounded like as well. I now do this to my truck every couple of months even if the creaking has not come back. Hope this helps.

Thank you for that. My 08 creaks and rattles and it's driving me nuts. If I crack my window open, some of the creaks stops, but not all... I'm not sure I know what type of lube you are refering to though. Silicon?

I just used a silicon spray lube that you can get at most any part stores. I sprayed it on a rag and rubbed it into the weather stripping. Don't be afraid to go over it a few times as this is what it took on my truck to make the noises go away.

Mdrew, I noticed the same thing when I put my window down and this really puzzled me! I was under my truck tightening my step bars and generally going nuts as the truck only had a couple thousand KMs when the creaking started! You might say I was a little bit relieved when it was only the weather stripping!!

Good luck guys.

I can't find it now cause I'm on my phone, but search for threads started by me.

I posted a thread for this exact issue and included the GM TSB number and repair procedure: it was the driver side front body mount

If that doesn't solve your issue and you have nerf bars, lube the body mount where they are attached. They can cause that same sound.

Good luck

I found your post, thanks a million for that. I already know they are going to tell me its my nerf bars, but hopefully this bulletin will resolve that.

Just an FYI here is the link to sk1er18's post.

Has there been any updates for the 09 model on this because mine does this as well? I've got DeeZee running boards that uses the the body mounts and I got the same squeak as mentioned. I'll try the silicon spray first then if that isn't it I'll get the new teflon insulator.

I just noticed this creaking on my 08 this morning. I was thinking door seals as well. I had just recently cleaned the interior and used an upholstery cleaner. It could be contributing to the door seal speaking.

With my truck off and in park, I was able to reproduce the creak sound by rocking the drive side front tire forward and backward (had to get it rocking good)

I had my friend perform the above while I poked around with a stethoscope and found the noise was generated from that body mount.

I put in one of those teflon pads and have been good since.

my 09 had the same issue. all that weather stripping is the cause. silicon lube works good---don't use something like armor-all because it'll dry and crack eventually. either silicon spray or graphite powder. silicon will be less messy.

Armor-All is actually water based now.... it won't cause drying and cracking like old-school AA. The silicone is actually what will cause drying and cracking of the seals over time.

However, I use some stuff that is specifically for lubing weather seals, called "Gummi-Pflege" -- it's a water-based, non-silicone product sourced from Germany:

They lubed my door seals too, so now that i know what they did and all of the information you guys posted, i'll do it myself from now on.

Glad we could help :D
