:D Could anyone explain how to reset the engine oil change monitor where it says 0% when oil change is needed....the monitor on engine display is controlled by buttons on steering wheel....it's probably very simple but my simple mind can't figure it out, any info would be greatly appreciated

Key on, engine off, press the gas pedal 3 times fast, all the way to the floor.

Thanks very much,it worked....synthetic oil changes done at shops are expensive...trying to save in these times....Valvoline full syn 5 w 30 in 59233 miled 6.0 gasser $26 plus bought another quart for $6 I think

Although you did reset it, seeing that you have the wheel buttons, all you have to do is hold the enter/return one (should be on the lower right spoke) and hold it for roughly 4-7 seconds and it will reset.

Yes, in today's economic slump we need to do all we can to save where we can. Good job.

This didn't work for me. I have the DIC....stills says 26%...should say 100%. Any other way to reset this monitor?

Did you try the 3 pedal pumps, but doing it deliberately, making sure you're going 100% both directions, also not too fast? I've seen some vehicles that are a little sensitive to the procedure. If this doesn't work, a visit to the dealer may be in order. Or just blow off the OLM and use time or mileage. I pay no attention to my OLM

Yep...did it with the key on...full press to the floor, then let up all the way, full press to the floor, etc. I am 52 so it wasn't at lightning speed by any stretch.

Don't be telling me you're old at 52.... I'm right behind you by just a few.

The info I have says if it doesn't reset properly it needs to go to the dealer for the Tech II thing

On DIC equipped vehicles bring up the Engine oil life display. Press and hold the reset button which is on the lower right. It looks like the return symbol from typewriting days ( a line that goes down and makes a right angle to the left and has an arrow head on it). The display will flash and be at 100%

That worked great....reset all my trip odo's too!

Yeah at 52 I look young but that's where it stops. I been hard on this old frame. I can still outwork a 20 year old on the jobsite but I sure feel it the next day!

Any ideas on how to reset the oil change display on a 2004 Chevy Silverado? It has a real basic menu that scrolls through trip, total mileage, total operating time, using the trip reset button.

Posted

1. Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine off.

2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three

times within five seconds.

If the OIL LIFE RESET message flashes for 10

seconds, the system is resetting.

3. Turn the key to LOCK.
