my friend has a 2003 chevrolet silverado ls regular cab with a 4.8l v8 and 3.73 gears and the only mods are magnaflow exhaust and a cold air intake2.gif. my friend has a 2000 camaro with a 3.8l v6 automatic with 3.42 posi gears and his only mods are an slp cold air intake and a trans go shift kit. he keep saying how he is going to beat him. we are going to the track in a few weeks to race. who do yall think is going to win and what do you think their times will be(between the camaro and my friends truck)?

i have a bone stock 2003 gmc sierra extended cab 4x4 with a 5.3l v8 and 3.73 gears. that same camaro wants to race me to. i am going to the drag strip in a few weeks with them to race the camaro and maybe the silverado. who do yall think is going to win and what do you think our times will be(between the camaro and my truck)?

I'd say the camaro will win against other silverado...

Only thing you got going for you to win is the v8.... but then when you factor in the weight i bet the camaro will win. Just hope that he slips or dosent get good traction...

Both trucks have V8's and better gearing....quarter mile I'll take either truck versus the (and I use the term loosely) Camaro.

V6 camaro's run mid 15's stock. My 2009 5.2 with 3.73 rear end runs high 16's and it is bone stock.

And bone stock either one of the trucks listed above will take yours as well....I'd put money on the regular cab for sure :D

My 2000 extra cab 4.8 with a flowmaster which is not a modification for power just sound would take 3.8 V-6 Camaros no problem. Not sure why but there seems to be plenty of them around here and at the local track.

stock/slightly modded 3.8 Camaros run 15.5 in the quarter

stock 4.8L with 3.23 gears will do it in 15.9ish with 3.73's and those couple mods he may be able to edge out.

Your truck should smoke him...if you get a good launch...make sure you launch in 4Hi.

idk how i missed that the other truck was a v8 :D lol

But i still say the camaro will have the upper hand because of the weight diff... plus the fact that both the trucks prob have more all terrain tires.. the camaro most prob has low profile tires that should grip a lot better on the track.

i know how my truck hooks up from a solid punch and even with my FIPK / duals / and tune i still would question if i could beat the camaro because of the weight and tires dif.

make sure u post what happens and get it on vid

I can smoke my buddy's Firebird...it has a 3.8 with duals and a jet chip.

I'm tuned for 94 octane (max tune on the tow haul button), with duals 31" tires and 3.42 gears.

I'm gonna say the Camaro but not by much. In the 1/8 mile you might take him but I think he's gonna get you on the top end in the 1/4

Try to cut a better light than him. In grudge racing, times don't matter. If you drill him on the tree, then its going to end up being close.

Good luck and have fun.

The 3.8 Camaro will dust the much heavier but not much more powerful truck. Again and again. I live 8 miles from a National event drag strip and have been to countless "test & tune" nights. I haven't seen many trucks that will smoke even a 3.8 Camaro. I have seen a lot of guys show up with trucks "thinking" they were fast... only to be spanked by the 4 cylinder 2 doors.

If the lighter Camaro runs decent...it will beat the trucks...

Weight = Inertia.

Weight / Inertia requires POWER to get it moving.

The more weight to move...the more power required.

Only thing that changes with the tow/haul is the transmission! No engine functions are altered with it engaged EXCEPT the transmission....if you tunner told you that it changes the engine.....find a new tunner!
