Screwed Up No Oil

Ok I did a terrible thing. I ran my 2003 Buick Century without oil for 15-20 seconds. Its not a truck but I've been a Silverado guy for years. Anyways I need some gm tech opinions and hopefully you guys will help. I was changing the filter and sparked the starter. Freaked out to make sure nothing fried and started the car for 15 or so seconds. Caught myself and shut it down quick. I feel TERRIBLE. Ive farmed and worked on equipment my whole life and know better. The engine is a 2003 3.1 with 28,000 miles. The filter was on and full, the drain plug was back on, it had been warmed up 40 min. prior. Its gone 250 miles since, runs good. I've listened and had my mechanic listen without telling him the story. He didn't hear anything. Very slight ping when started cold(remember winter time), but mostly goes away in a minute, and may have always been that way. How bad did I screw it?

Your fine....15 seconds without oil in the pan...that nothing...it takes half that time or more for the oil (dino oil) to get to the top of the engine during a cold start. You didn't drive it or peg the tach or anything...so you'll be fine.

Triple ditto. I've seen small engines run 5 minutes without oil at full throttle, with exhaust glowing orange front to back ... different animal, but I'd say your ok.

no worries, you have piston slap(typical)I had piston slap so bad in my 91 Beretta GT that it was noisey hot lol, they can go forever with a piston slap,or you can replace the pistons with the GM change up pistons with tephlon, but don't freak out ,just drive it
