How Is Your Gmt900 Holding Up?

Recommended Posts

Just looking for an update, especially from LTZ owners. I'm in the market, and I'm curious if I should go GMT900 or not.

Electronics (Power fold mirrors, seats, remote start, climate control etc.)

Sunroof (if you have one: Leaks, rattles?? Would you check the box again?)

Leather (wearing well?)

Body/frame (squeaks, rattles, vibrations?)

The cold start lifters tick is the only major issue for me!, there is a TSB for it but there is no clear fix for it.

All my electronics in my 2007 V-Max have been holding up great, nothing has failed. The power seats work like there new, the power mirrors work great, the climate control is working like new. My whole interior is holding up great, my leather interior looks good. The whole truck is holding up great, the only thing is that my transmission broke but the GM dealer fixed it for me. It is a very good truck, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another truck like this one. The only thing I would is change is the transmission and engine. I want a 6.2l and a 6 speed.

No complaints other than the fluid leaks. Oil pan gasket, oil cooler adapter gasket, and power steering rack leaking and replaced twice already. The steering rack worries me a bit...

07 CC 5.4 Victory Red (LT2 with NAV) at about 55,000 no issues to really speak of. I have no lifter tick yet. No tires or alignment issues. Some petty issues that we get to live with. The Driveshaft clunk, lube the slip yoke yearly as part of my PM and it goes away. Seats look good, no squeaks, no rattles. Paint rock chips are hard to keep away, but the color still looks bright after being in the Texas sun.

My old 08 silverardo I racked close to 30k on her and the only time I had to go to the dealer was my passenger side power door lock failed. (somewhat common from what I have read) I was very pleased with it.

I only have 1500 miles on my 010 and so far I'm happy with it

07 gmt-900 2500 x-cab 4x4 just turned 30k miles.

No issues with paint or cloth interior and still tight and quiet.

The only mechanical issues have been the TPMS going nuts wirh

SES and warning lights (stock rims and tires) requiring 2 dealer

visits under warranty and replacement of a leaking steering rack

also under warranty.

I will note this truck has been worked hard snowplowing and NO

issues with engine or transmission.

2010 LT (sorry not an LTZ) with almost 6K miles

Only issues have been the broken tailgate lock assy (replaced under warranty) and the noisey leaf springs (have been greased did not fix it, currently waiting on new springs they are on order from the dealer to replace under warranty)

I've read about the power locks...

My 99 had issues with the dash board dying, and the power windows. I was told the LTZ models will adjust the seats every time you enter and exit the truck, making me wonder about longevity (one reason I'm posting).

Thanks guys for the responses. Keep em coming!

Its not a power lock, it is the manual tailgate lock

The only thing I wish I could've had is the 6.2L and Z71 together, but I took the Z71 over the 6.2L

Mine has been very good with the drivetrain, not so much with other little crap.

AC pipe leaking replaced under warranty 1 month

Right front shock blown replaced under warranty 11K miles

Right front shock blown again 40K miles - bitched to get it covered

driver door handle broken off replaced under warranty - 5K miles

pass door handle broken off replaced under extended warranty 37K

rear pass door handle broken off replaced under extended warranty 45K

Transmission shift reprogram under warranty 6K

4 OEM 20" wheels replaced under original warranty at 55K miles. Bitched at 5K miles and they greed to a one time replacement up to 3 years 60K.

I'm almost to 60K miles now. Vehicle has been a JOY to drive. Just seems every six months something annoying breaks. No excuse for breaking door handles IMO Cheap plastic. Wheels are just cheap Chinese junk. As far as performance and handling, I get impressive performance and ride for a 6000lb brick! My mother claims mine rides better on the highway than her Benz.

Holy cow! What do you use to open the door... a baseball bat? :)

I've never even heard of anybody here having to replace a door handle. You guys need to learn to open a door.

JUUUUST KIDDING.

One of my GM OEM Chrome handles in now broken. Damn thing is snapped off where the bolt goes in. Unacceptable... It has never seen any abuse and it;s the passenger side. It's a shitty design made of cheap plastic for sure.

I traded my 07 LTZ crew off a couple of weeks ago. I had a few issues over the couple of years I owned this truck. AFM rough idle on the 6.0L. Dealer worked on it a few times to no avail. Ignition control sensor went bad. I battled dealer and GM over this for the about 1 year until they had to come tow the vehicle to the shop. This repaired this problem. Sun roof was not very quiet. Wind noise. I traded for a 2010 LTZ crew with 6.2 and 6 speed. I find no comparison between the new and the old. Love the new one so far. Better paint, seats and comfort.
