Door Rattles!

I have a 2008 extended cab Silverado. I am so tired of hearing my doors rattle at low speeds!! Has anyone else had this problem? How easy is this to fix? I don't feel like losing my truck for the day at the dealers!!

Take care,

Matt

mine does it...if i don't slam the driver back one try opening it and giving it a good slam

I've tried that. No luck it only seems to happen when driving about 20 mph or slower its very annoying!! It's getting worse too. It would do that once in awhile now, it's all the time!!

I had the door rattle in my 2002 Tahoe, On mine the locking rod rides in a couple plastic blocks which at 100,000 miles are not as tight as they once were. To eliminate this rattle I coated the rod with grease for about 2 inches in an area between the plastic blocks but where I thought it would stop the rattle. Then I squeased black silicone out of a tube around this rod and up against the door. The grease keeps the silicone from bonding to the rod allowing it to slide in the silicone after it drys. Must let it sit for 12-24 hours to dry and adhere to the door. Not the ideal fix but a fix is a fix right? New plastic clips to hold this rod tight would most likely have done the same thing.

My rattle comes from the rear seats being flopped down with nobody setting there....rattles like hell....always reaching back and flipping them upright ......kids always leave em down

Your truck is somewhat newer, so im not sure it has the same problem. My 05 had a heck of a rattle on the driver side doors (ext cab). The hinges were completely worn out, causing the door to sag, to the point the top of the doors were touching. New hinges helped, but still had a rattle. Had to adjust the latches on the ext door to pull it in tighter and now its all gone.

My GMT900 drivers door started rattling over rough roads and potholes about a year ago. I pulled the interior panel off and checked everything. Could not find anything loose. Dealer tried to fix it once and said they could not replicate the noise. 2nd time around they heard it and replaced the striker pin and it has been dead silent ever since. I'm knocking on wood.......... Hope this helps..

I will try adjusting the striker pins and see that helps.. If not I will weld the doors shut!! Lol...

Thanks for your help guys!

Take care,

Matt

Now that sounds like a plan... Then all you need to do is paint a number 1 on your doors and change your name to Bo Duke

I have the same truck so this is somewhat related, but the plastic piece under the driver's wheel on my Silverado rattles. The assembly attached under the plastic piece had to be taken off because it was clanking bad, but it still rattles which is pretty annoying. Anybody else have this annoyance?

I haven't had the door rattle yet, but Ill be looking out for it now.

I can sympathize with your problems because my 1999 Mazda 626 just developed an extremely annoying and loud door rattle somewhere in the front passenger door and it is driving me up the wall. But after rattle free 261K miles, I should not complain too much. No rattles in the truck yet. It seems that crew cabs are less prone to door rattles than extended cabs.
