Does Gm Ever Call Back?

Recommended Posts

About a couple of weeks after I bought my truck, GM called to see how I like it. He asked about the fit and finish, squeaks and rattles among other things. I got kind of testy and told him he had to be kidding. The truck is only a couple weeks old. I told him to call back in 6 months or a year and I'll give you real world data. Has anybody been contacted like this and do they ever call back at a later date?

I was thinking the same thing

They probably won't call back though,Like Ryan said,Its an "initial quality survey",I've gotten a couple of them myself with some of the trucks I've bought.

HA,HA funny

I wasn't joking. I don't have any patience for inconsiderate people. I've bolted tires back up to cars and handed customers their keys and politely asked them to bring their vehicles to someone else for "getting testy".

I'm now curious if this story would be different had you respectfully asked for a call back or another survey after a period of 6 months. If they had something set up I bet he would've added you to the list (if said "list" exists).

After having a customer haggle with me in that "are you kidding tone" over a used tire price today, I put the tire back on the rack and said I would rather not do buisness with him, have a nice day.

I wasn't rude. I merely kept asking for him to call back in a couple of months. He was a contract telemarketer. Never mind for me asking my question. Mods if you want to delete this thread go ahead.

 i've been there before!

One of my most memorable events was the old guy that was having issues with his front brakes. I popped the front tires off and checked everything out, then started to take his rear tires off to check the rear brakes. He ran out into the shop cussing up a storm and told me dont touch the rear. I tried to calm him down and told him that we need to make sure that the rear brakes are working properly otherwise they could be part of the issue... but he didn't want to hear it and kept rambling. I bolted them tires up and sent him on his way.

I just don't get it...... people gotta chill out a bit

I got my new truck on May 10, 2010. The salesman I dealt with has called a couple of times every month to make sure everything is good with the truck and to make sure I didn't need any service or other type of work done on it. He also sold me my previous truck (98 GMC Sierra Ext Cab) and sold my dad 3 trucks (97 Sierra, 05 Sierra Z71, and 07 Yukon) and he has called a couple of times every month for the 1st couple of years to check on the trucks. He also sends a "birthday card" to us on the truck's "birthday" (day we bought the truck), and he includes a gift certificate for a free oil change or equivalent amount off of non-warranty service. In my mind, this salesman goes far beyond what other sales people do...since 2001, I have bought an 01 Honda Accord and an 05 Tahoe for my wife, and I have yet to receive as much as a phone call from the sales person who sold me those two vehicles.

Thats awesome! I am still friends with the guy who sold me my 2000. He no longer is a salesman (was doing it for a job while in college).

If he really was just a contract telemarketer then I'm guessing that the company is only paid for the initial quality survey and not additional call backs to find out the long term quality, that would probably another phone call.
