Now I know a lot of you are probably thinking about that night shade stuff. It works, but you have to put a clear coat on it if you want to to be glossy and not matte.

 

I'd rather spend 70 bucks and have it done professionally then do it myself and end up messing up. But I know some of you can probably do it yourself in a day for about 25-30 bucks with materials like sand paper and paint. and time....

Funny thing is, my dad is actually a cop. The lights are completely visible. It still shines through red and visible in the day light.

No headlight or tail light covers allowed here. I know I'd get a ticket for having them blacked. Not sure what the law states exactly. Just another reason for them to pull you over. Don't get me wrong. They look great and cops are cool.

Are these "covers" SAE approved or "for show purposes only"? In Georgia you are not allowed to have "covers" over your tail lights. (headlights or license plates neither for that matter).

§ 40-8-23. Taillights

 

 

(a) Every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer manufactured prior to January 1, 1954, shall be equipped with at least one taillight mounted on the rear, which when lighted as required in this article shall emit a red light plainly visible from a distance of 500 feet to the rear.

 

(b) Every motor vehicle, trailer, semitrailer, and pole trailer manufactured after January 1, 1954, shall be equipped with two taillights which meet the specifications provided in this Code section.

 

© Every taillight upon every vehicle shall be located at a height of not more than 60 inches nor less than 20 inches, to be measured as set forth in subsection (b) of Code Section 40-8-21.

 

(d) Either a taillight or a separate light shall be so constructed and placed as to illuminate with a white light the rear registration plate and render it clearly legible from a distance of 50 feet to the rear. Any taillight or taillights, together with any separate light for illuminating the rear registration plate, shall be so wired as to be lighted whenever the headlights or auxiliary driving lights are lighted.

 

(e) All lenses on taillights shall be maintained in good repair and shall meet manufacturers' specifications.

Well these are painted, not covers...

Yea, you go with that. They do look good on your truck.

Even though sometimes it looks good it might not be legal. But I've seen other in South Carolina with it and I haven't heard of any problems. The lights still shine through red in day time and night. and the blinkers in the mirrors help out some too
