revrnd Posted November 13, 2010 Posted November 13, 2010 Metalhead where's it being built? My 2500HD was built the week of Sept' 27. It was @ Scott Drummond's in Campbellford the following week. I was quite surprised it got there so quick. I don't think there's a lot of room @ the Flint plant (unlike the Gen-Auto yard) so they ship the trucks out of there quickly. I used to work in the Truck Plant & there was a priority system for "sold" trucks in the plant. I'm not sure if this was a corporate thing or not & whether or not it applied to the truck once it left the plant.
MS3DALE Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 I know a lot of guys over on Camaro5.com are able to track their Camaro's after they leave your plant via rail,They use the rail car number via the railroad companies website....I just don't know how they're getting what rail car number they are on.
revrnd Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 I just don't know how they're getting what rail car number they are on. Someone must be sitting @ the Wentworth St. level crossing w/ a notepad . (The spur that serves the shipping yard crosses this street)

My Truck is a Mexician built Crewcab and was ok'd for shipping on Nov 1st & by the looks of the invoice it should be here around the 19th of Nov . I thought it would be knd of cool to follow its rail movements . If i had the extra cash i would have went with the 2500HD .

You are correct sir , the Camaro5 group does a great job of tracking their cars using Camarotracking.com but they cannot use it for Canadian orders ! I know some of the people who run that site and i did try them 1st with no luck . I guess i'll just have to wait like everyone else & thanks for your help . Have a great day .

In the past there used to be public access to the CPR locomotive (& I think freight car) search website. However it was locked after 9-11.

OK,I have no idea how that site....Camarotracking.com works, other than you need your order number to track the order,It seems to work quite well for them, fellow forum member here Kilo-9 used it to track his and it worked great. Do you mind if I ask you what you do at the Camaro plant?

Somehow Kris I think some guys still get access to the RR search websites and are able to track them, hell some of them even manage to get pictures of the railcar that has their Camaro in it while its sitting in the railyard!!

And some people say I need to get a life .
Z45 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 If you contact your dealer and ask them to call the Dealer Business Center they could provide exact location of your truck and also give you a railcar number if it is still on that system
KMGZ400 Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 sorry if this is stupid but what would happen if the car/truck happened to get damaged on the train? i take it GM would would make you a new vehicle? if i ordered a anything from GM and it got damaged brand new, i would want them to build me a new one.
