I got a 05 crew cab sierra with speaker problems. The speakers cut out and only tweeters will work, then they will start working again. I have never removed the door panels or the radio(non Bose). Sometimes it sounds like a loose connection somewhere. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!!

I had the same problem in my '03 and I went ahead and pulled the door panels and then when i turned on the stereo there was no sound. I checked for awhile and all the connections were good, so I closed the door and bam, there it went. Turns out the wire was getting bound up in the rubber boot that has the whole bundle of wires in it when the door closed.(I know what you're thinking, how does that happen? I don't know lol) Spliced in a short section of speaker wire and it worked fine until I sold the truck!

Is the bundle of wires that are getting bunched up, the ones running through the driver door? man i hope that is my problem. Drives me nuts when only the tweeters are working!! Thanks

I had my Drivers Door Speaker pretty much die on me.....sounds like just the Tweeter is working....then earlier this week, the Passenger Door Spearker died totally.....so I went and bought some new Kenwood speakers to replace them. Only thing that may, or may not, be a problem.....the Kenwood Speakers have 4 Ohms Impedence....is this gonna be a good fit ???....I know nothing about this stuff. I bought cheapy speakers due to finances (on sale $50 for the pair)....plus I'm not big on having a window shattering system anyhow...just neeed it to work and sound decent

The 4 0hm will generally sound better than the 8 ohm, because it takes more power to push a 4 than an 8. Which will make the radio have to push harder to move the 4, so you're good. So the lower the ohms, the less chance of distortion you have at a certain volume.

Thanks .....Any idea if this is gonna be okay to run with the stock rear speakers ???....will it effect the overall sound of the system ???...will it sound off balance ???....I appreciate your input

It's already pretty off balance from the factory toward the front, IMO. So, I wouldn't worry about it, just adjust your fade accordingly.

Figures....I buy speakers (not installed yet)....now the right speaker kicks on...gotta start from the top post and check some wires I guess

I have the same problem. Lately if my door chime works, then the speakers will work. This is not always the case though. I am going to replace all the speakers, and see if that fixes it. If that does not take care of the problem, then I am replacing the radio.

That's how gm speakers are they work then they don't on and off like that. It's not the wiring, it's the speakers. I guarantee it.

Long story short....my boss wouldn't give me 10 minutes to drive across the parking lot to drop off the truck to get the work done...(PR1CK)...they don't have another opening that may fit my schedule for at least 4 weeks

Put them in yourself. VERY easy to do, saves money, saves time, and you can say you put them in yourself.

yes removing the door panel on these GMT800s is very very easy. you could keep the head unit and just get speakers, i ran my setup that way for a while, then installed a head unit. everything was very easy, the head unit is also very easy to pull out.
